Who are these "animal rights people"? Do they really all think as a monolith? Is it fair to characterize each individual with any concern for animal rights as "one of them"?

Creative! This reminds me of FreeCiv maps with the 'flat earth topology' option turned on. The edge of the earth must be long enough to encompass the earth. So the folks using that argument must imagine Antarctica as _huge_, thoug

This thread is really eye opening, culturally. Aside from some devout paleo people, I've never known a single omnivore who doesn't routinely have meatless meals, without even giving it much thought. Having meat with every dinner

"We may need meat, but we don't need meat in every meal" Is it still a common belief that we 'need meat'? I thought it was well established that humans in normal health do not _need_ meat to thrive - especially with

Good work at devil's advocate. Maybe you can help me with this -- how can someone be a flat earther in the absence of any evidence of any edge to the surface of the earth? What is the counter argument to this?

While there is something to be said for seeing things in a positive light, and accepting that which you cannot change -- the fact remains: these people vote! They are a clear threat to rational policy making. Also, their children are often

Well, it is partly Apple's fault in that they chose to go completely type c only, and that they chose not to provide the right sets of clearly marked and explained adapters that would be guaranteed to work with their hardware.

I definitely shouldn't have said 'coined', since coining usually refers to the first time that the term is used in a particular way. I have no idea if white nationalists coined the term. I meant to say: 'brought the ter

I agree it is not reasonable to say Milo is a white supremacist, in fact they seem to hate him. This says something, I think, about how the term alt right is used. While white supremacists coined the term, they clearly don't own it an

The term "alt right" is used so inconsistently by the media, the term has become nearly meaningless. There appear to be many people who consider themselves 'alt right' who have no interest in 'white identity.'

I love the use of technology, but can't get excited about the NYT, specifically, being a "media-tech powerhouse 10x what it is now" given their lack of ethics.

I'm not sure where Samsung and Xiaomi are with this, but software can be used to accurately evaluate whether touches near the bezel are intended as UI events (vs simply holding or picking up the phone).
