It bothers me too when people reverse "in theory" and "in practice", which are really quite different things! Clearly in this case he actually meant "in practice".

I'm curious, how, if "... no copies of this letter have been sent to anybody else. You now hold the only copy in your hands." is true, how is it reproduced on this site?

That said, it's pretty disturbing if this part is true: Over the past year, I have attempted to get some clarity and assistance from Yelp. I have had no success except that its sales staff has repeatedly advised that if we would o

A better term than "slave" is probably "golden handcuffs". You are trapped by what you are given, whether that's healthcare, salary, vesting, etc.

In reply to 1 (having done internships at Facebook, Google and RIM), all of these large companies try very hard to avoid having interns do grunt work. These internships are as much about advertising the company to the intern (and the inte

The problem there is that in a lot of cases you pretty much use timezones implicitly anyway. If you want to call someone in China from North America, for instance, if it's 3pm where you are, you might know that it's 3pm in China (in this hy

Absolutely agree. Whenever I'm using an iPhone, I find myself trying to find the back button, but in many apps, and in many places on the iPhone, there just isn't one.

I have to echo the pro-VCS crowd. I've had so many times, even in tiny projects, where I've broken something in a really difficult to reverse way (or maybe I'm not sure how exactly I broke it, but it used to work, damn it!), and being able

It also seems a bit too eager to accept solutions as correct. For example, you can pass Lesson 6, exercise "Dot your I's and cross your T's" without fixing the = vs == confusion. I put this in to test, and it passed: var response = prom

I see this more as an alternative way of saying "master the basics". I can't count the number of times that I've seen developers (or classmates) try really complex things without understanding what's going on underneath, and then not be abl
