Very good article and exactly how I experienced my last projects. There have been other articles lately on HN about the changing role of the MVC pattern. The views and models are now on the client. This is ideal because this way the client

Yes, great job. Besides the fast networking part it also feels snappy because of the page snapshot feature. It is also a cool feedback to see reduced colors, when the content has not refreshed yet.

Careful, there is often this misunderstanding with Mongo. Using MongoDB from your program does not require you to open source it. The Drivers which you link against are Apache or MIT licensed and Mongo's AGPL license has a "different work

It is part of the DRM scheme. DRM requires end-to-end encryption to be effective. In this case it has nothing to do with a vendor lock-in. Using DRM is part of the deal with media partners and not Apple's decision.

I suspect that this app uses Apples's leaked key for airplay encryption. In that case I would understand the rejection. I can't wait for the official explanation.

There is only one simple rule to follow: Always use UTC when storing date/time in databases, do conversion to local time while reading and from local time while writing.

They have messed with their own "don't be evil" policy. First their official privacy policy shift ( http://www.google.com/policies/ ) and then these evil techniques.

This is awesome news. There are currently 3 competing frameworks: Meteor, Firebase and Derby, all discussed on HN last week. I guess the new license gives Meteor a big plus. I am glad they changed their minds.

It's great to have a liberally licensed alternative to Meteor and Firebase. Many thanks for that. What I have taken from the article: 1. Derby is done by competent people 2. They support server and client code sharing 3. MIT license 4. NPM

Thank for clarifying. You should enable it, to demonstrate the cababilities of your framwork. For high load push driven apps, websockets are a must. I understand that fallbacks are needed for users behind proxies etc. But if the infrastruct

Those are valid points but Google has a different target. The pages are designed to get the user to spend more time on G+.

I just tried the TODO app from the Derby home page and it is just doing xhr polling. I tested on Chrome and Safari. The Metor and Firebase demos used both websockets.

I would like to thank you and those of the original team who are still being involved for your support of the Apache fork. Many thanks. When I read Damien's note back in January, I was prepared to never see updates to CouchDB.

Great news. CouchDB is still living. The change log is impressive. However, it is worth to mention that the database file format has changed. Once on 1.2 your files get upgraded to the new format. There is no going back.

Yes, it was Oracle's. The problem was on the Salesforce side (as a client). They couldn't verify the chain up to the CA because it is not included in the CA bundle. Adding something on the server side doesn't help here.
