this has nothing to do with community or even inclusivity and everything to do with signaling political allegiance & telling people who don’t agree that they aren’t welcome It is quite literally the opposite of what you and others suppo

You foster a positive community by accusing the person reading your webpage of potentially being a Nazi? lmao All this sort of thing tells me is to avoid this community because accusations of bigotry are going to start flying over the small

Understanding financial implications of this isn’t the same as trying to profit from it. With something this catastrophic you aren’t really likely to anyways. But considering it & preparing to at least remain solvent somehow isn’t neces

Seems very odd to hate classes and still insist on doing OOP. If you just break the data and the functionality apart you don’t have to worry about any of this.

ehhh...I think it only seems common because it's amplified by the internet. Still, it's weird, many are perverts, and I don't really think most people want business advice from someone who's basically announcing to the

Yeah, I generally agree with all of that. At the same time, if you reach a point where breaking democracy becomes the only way to survive an existential threat, then it’s do or die. So considering how severe those consequences are, somethin

What I’m wondering then is: - How so? - What can be done to fix it? - Is there a viable path to getting there? the parent comment to me sounded like democracy as it exists in the UK basically led them down this path and now has them stuck i

The problem is cultural rot as much as it is economic. If your only objective in life is to advance your career, buy things, eat takeout, and watch Netflix, then why bother? It’s just a slow suicide while you keep capitalism going. The coll

It is this manufacturing question that Toyota is claiming to have a solution to here, but afaik we don’t have details yet so it’s hard to say. But they claim to be able to mass produce these and bring them to market within ~4 years.

Deno Deploy is the killer feature for me, and it’s ultimately the main product of Deno, Inc. too. Node support just makes it easier to get existing software running there. I don’t think it will suffer the same fate as Kotlin because a lot o

The interesting part of Deno for me is mainly the benefits of the runtime & the idea of using v8 isolates as an alternative to containers etc.

Well there’s more than just Node and Deno too. Cloudflare workers, etc. If you want portability across different worker runtimes and not just Deno, you’ll still want to avoid heavy Node API usage.

PHP is pretty nice these days but salaries for PHP roles are terrible. I can get paid 50% more being half as productive writing Go (for no reason bc 90% of people using it don't actually need any of it's features or performance)

The difference is really that with something like protobuf type safety is built in & with JSON it's an afterthought. With JSON Schema or OpenAPI it's on you to keep things in sync with your API & there's often a signi

I do agree that client requirements come first of course, but after that DX is at the top of my list. They do differ fundamentally in that type safety is an afterthought with REST but is built in with some of the alternatives. That can have

It really depends on the language and framework you're using how convenient OpenAPI actually is to implement. In many cases there's a lot of additional manual effort involved if you can't auto generate a schema, or at least g

Typesafety is another big part of this imo. GraphQL and gRPC give you this out of the box, but with REST you have to cobble together some sort of solution for providing a schema & client libraries.

A company that is 16 years old, still not profitable, & with no concrete plans to achieve profitability is totally dysfunctional and probably wouldn’t survive a high interest rate + likely recessionary environment anyways.

EndeavourOS is the easiest way to use Arch imo, its a pretty painless installation and gives you a working desktop environment out of the box & seems to be pretty good at detecting hardware and installing drivers too.
