This would require additional hardware in every iMac sold. Many people (I suspect the vast majority) would not reuse the iMacs as displays. Would the total amount of extra hardware inside discarded iMacs (those not used as displays) be less

When I read Surface Detail a few years ago, I swear something Musk tweeted near that time made me think he had also read it and identified with Joiler Veppers, the antagonist.

The supposed triviality of this size is not sitting well with me. What’s described is a 100 yard deep hole. So about 27 stories. It’s 35 miles per side, so 35 x 35 = 1225 square miles in area. That’s bigger than any city in the mainland US[

I don’t like that the Xbox adaptive controller is necessary for this. Microsoft gets praise for how it enables alternate controllers - and it’s great for DIY - but that is only necessary because they use a cryptographic protocol to disallow

It appears you’re being downvoted - but this (Ozempic and the like decreasing fast food sales) may actually be happening. A couple of recent articles: https://www.axios.com/2023/10/06/ozempic-weight-loss-drugs

Could have worked under the table. This is a ridiculous take! You’re arguing (or appear to be) that all-or-nothing welfare systems are fine because you can always just commit welfare and tax fraud if you want more money?!

If you open it up, the strip is actually a thin PCB glued to the underside of the top of the case. Mine was a little loose, pressing it down made things work a bit better. It does still get worse at tracking when the batteries start runnin

Have you used one? I have not (so this a genuine question!) I am really skeptical of the ‘paper-like’ quality it supposedly has. Are the viewing angle and glare really not noticeable? More holistically, does it actually ‘seem like’ paper in

Good hyphenation and TeX-like paragraph-level justification (tries to balance whitespace throughout a paragraph rather than just filling each line up with as much as possible and breaking when a word overflows) would do a lot to fix that.

What is the real-world problem you’re concerned about? Cheap tools may not crimp as well as the official tools (I have no doubt the differences in finished crimp geometry are real), but especially for low voltage connections like these, I h

Serious answer: it was judged that the act of scanning and delivering the book was ‘copying’ it - which copyright laws say they need permission to do. The whole ‘we only let one person at a time read it’ thing was deemed to be irrelevant. N

I never get why people think this does exist. If it did, wouldn’t every company be obliged to get out of the business they’re in and start doing what would be most profitable right now? Obviously that would be absurd.
