I didn't know that Obsidian worked that cleanly; I occasionally flirt with it but have been using https://zim-wiki.org for about a decade longer, so my muscle memory is there. I keep looking for reasons to switch but so far

Yes. And as much as I hate "well, users should just be smarter and deal with inconvenience," I think it may fit here. Identity is always hard, and I strongly doubt there is any great way that makes it "easier" and still

So, (especially after watching Bluesky / ATProto) I'm increasingly convinced that this is not a problem that needs solving. Email is still a protocol, and the thing that ATProto is doing causes as many problems as it purports to

So everyone saying "oh but they told us this" is completely missing the point; it's like those weird logic problems where everyone on the island has a dot on their head or whatever. There's a massive difference between

I trust this is getting attention and votes for the same reason I'm paying attention here -- to highlight the absolute mediocrity and blah-ness of this whole thing. Like this was some deep insightful journey and not your entirely typic

"At all?" Oh come on -- of course they are. That's precisely why you put it in a "white paper" and not, you know, ads.

I think you sort of fundamentally misunderstand the whole "steak vs sizzle" thing in capitalism? The technology "feels" way less cool knowing that there are human backups, which would absolutely in turn make its percieve

1. Still hard not to think that this is a huge waste of time as opposed to something that's a little more like a public transport train-ish thing, i.e. integrate with established infrastructure. 2. No seriously, is the filipino driver

College instructor here. One thing I'm seeing here that's kind of funny is how badly so many of you are misunderstanding the value of "friction." You see a policy, and your clever brains come up with a way to get around

You fundamentally misunderstand the value of friction. The digital hoop-jumping, as you call it, is a very very useful signal for motivation.

As a college instructor, one issue I find fascinating is the idea that I'm supposed to care strongly about this. I do not. This is your problem, companies. Now, I am aware that I have to give out grades and so I walk through the moti

How does this compare to Tinc? I'm aware of how old Tinc is, but I've yet to find anything compelling enough to get me to switch. Tinc is a little annoying to set up, but once it's going I literally forget about it.

What I'm saying here is that it's utterly naive to expect Mozilla to remain "pure" given what it is up against. I think there's room for criticism like yours, but also seems like, big picture, a lot of anti-Mozilla

It doesn't have to beat it to "be winning" for purposes of "accomplishing the mission." This is exactly as goofy as saying "Linux is only 3% of the desktop therefore it is a loser."
