You can use the EXT_direct_state_access instead of bind-to-modify. glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texId); glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, ...); vs glTextureImage2DEXT(texId, GL_TEXTURE_2D, ...);

Immediate mode is very useful for drawing a single triangle that fully covers the viewport, something that is quite common for any sort of image processing or post processing. In these cases your performance will entirely be limited by the

The ideal behavior would be if the app is launched via another app it should not touch the back stack. If I launch the email app from the home screen or app folder, it should populate the back stack so that hitting back brings me from the e

I have a Panasonic VT30 plasma display that was released May 2011 and I had to explicitly disable overscan when I plugged in my PC via HDMI.

Another sport I would highly recommend is rock climbing. Most cities have an indoor climbing gym and on the whole I've found other climbers to be very friendly and helpful to people just getting started. There is also this whole puzzle solv

Oh neat, I initially thought it still had a normal trackpad centered under the keyboard but that is just a small bevel for opening the laptop. Having the trackpad on the right makes a lot of sense, hopefully we start seeing more laptops tha

Legally yes. Most stores have a voluntary corporate policy that limits the sale of R rated movies to minors though.

Are movies or books an acceptable/good substitute? All this ruling does is give video games the same freedom of speech protection that movies and books have.

Android phones you buy directly from AT&T have sideloading disabled. I believe you have to root the phone to turn this feature back on.

Xoom is running a stock install of Honeycomb with no Motorola UI modifications so hopefully this means quick updates. Also a Wifi only version means no additional delay due to the network carrier.

Very disappointed to see this has an 800x480 resolution display. Same resolution as my 3.7" Nexus One but on a 7" display, what is the point?

I got mine just before Android 2.2 came out (I got the 2.2 OTA update right after pulling it out of the box) and it definitely did have Twitter.

Modern GPUs do have a full set of integer instructions, they just don't run as fast as floating point instructions. Depending on how well a problem maps to the massively parallel architecture of a GPU, this may not matter.

Not really an accurate statement. They are basing this entirely off of the theoretical triangle throughput and not comparing pixel shading power, memory bandwidth, cpu perf (those SPUs on the PS3 actually do get used), etc...
