Big waves and high winds will cause your vessel to go unstable and crash. Ocean-crossing cargo vessels have to handle all weather conditions. Hydrofoils significantly increase draft and nobody wants to dredge their ports and canals 20 feet

This is correct. The industry is currently constrained on everything from water to wafers, in addition to fab time slots. Everyone is panic buying too, so shortages are getting amplified.

A brick would generate lift if you apply enough thrust, with the right angle of attack. But it wouldn't have much of a glide ratio. And neither does this contraption.

This was published in 2004 and was highly speculative at the time. We are still a long, long way from the Diamond Age fantasy of self assembling nanotech. Recent work in this area seems to mostly involve modding 3D printers to try and integ

Yeah that's pretty disappointing. Gotta implement a "bus clear" feature in any system that relies on I2C working consistently. Slave devices that rely on clock stretching are a total pain in the ass, as well. Tend not to play

There was a run on HOTAS controllers when Star Wars: Squadrons was due for release. Star Wars "space" combat is basically WW2 style dogfighting, so it's not far removed from flight simulator territory.
