"it's just rational business" yes and that's why we need gouvernement to step in and change the cost-benefit equation so that it becomes "just rational business" re-value these items.

Food is already regulated. This is not about regulating "the internet", it's about applying existing rules to a retailer that just happens to operate mostly online. The argument that Amazon's suppliers are "retailer

You can play around with ML on your laptop, but serious work is typically done in the cloud. I use powerful Nvidia GPUs from my MacBook every day.

Handheld devices cannot be reasonably expected to last 10 years. However consumer goods must be fit for purpose for a reasonable time. The case of the insecure router after 5-10 years was probably not brought to court, but I hope the court

I am with you on this. The story on the Canadian food truck being withheld money from Square Canada because JP Morgan asserted that the coffee came from Cuba comes to mind. From my perspective, outside of the US and China, both are overreac

In my jurisdiction, consumer device must have "reasonable lifetime" by law. This lifetime of course is not to be determined by the manufacturer, but by the courts in the event of a disagreement. Ten years is bit long, but it'

Montreal did the same thing during student protests in 2012 [1]. It came along with another special law enacted to restrict protests[2]. Both were later contested and dropped. In my opinion that was extremely unproductive. It galvanized pro

How much work does cutting a 14,000$ check requires? It been going on since August. For a foot truck operations 14,000$ must be a significant toll on cash flow. It's inexcusable.

You could have one GDPR compliant site in the EU and a different international one.. or just block EU. Nobody is infringing on someone else's sovereignty in that case.

The US already in an economic dispute with many allies (including Canada) citing national security threats. At this rate, the US might have no close allies left by the end of life of the F35s.

Sadly (and weirdly) it's not symmetrical. The law specifies a minimum termination notice of only two weeks from the employer. Most people assume the two weeks notice applies both ways (and it's generally fine), but it's not a

I don't know US laws, but in Canada you have to give an appropriate notice that can extend far beyond 2 weeks. Your loyalty obligations also extent after the employment period. For instance, a dentist who gave the usual 2 weeks had to

I knew someone would mention those.. I have two since they launched. However, they don't do 4k or HDR and I still need the 95%-of-the-time idle 1,500$ graphics card.

I am a "gamer", I have a 2080Ti and I hope it's the last 1500$ gaming equipment I ever have to buy. It sits idle 95%+ of the time and it is tied to only one of the all the screens in my house. I want this to work.

The browser traps many keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl+w would close the chrome tab, not the vscode tab for instance. As a result, many shortcuts won't work. I think you can reclaim some by running in full screen, but it's not great.

Something public safety can be at risk in the software world. Medical devices immediately comes to mind (look up Therac-25). Some software acts are reserved. Most of my friends are registered software engineers.
