If you can't drive safely; you can't drive. There is no middle ground. You may think it's fine to take a risk for yourself based on your costs/benefits, but it's definitely not fine to take a risk for others.

I assume Epic endgame isn't this trial. Winning would be nice, but loosing might help show the need for new legislations. Also, the US is only one jurisdiction.

There is friction with updates as well. But we don't have to argue since even a giant such as Epic didn't manage to do it with the fortnight franchise..

I think it's getting obvious that the situation is untenable. If it's not the US courts, some other court will likely enact changes. In the end it doesn't matter how Apple and Google got to this duopoly position of power, if

Forcing you to use 3rd party store for few apps is somehow worst than forcing everyone to use the Apple store for all apps? This discussion is moot. Apple only has to lower it's cut to cost + a reasonable markup instead of abusing it&#

That's dishonest. The situation is identical on Android. Yes. You can "technically" sideload apps, but there is so many hoops to go through that you really can't distribute your application this way.

Allowing other stores doesn't mean you have to use them. You could still have your curated experience on the Apple store. Why do you want to impose your views on others?

You're argument rely on the assumption that entering the smartphone market now is as easy as it was when Google and Apple did it, which is ludicrous. Edit: even if it was as "easy". It's not like there are dozens of comp

That's a really simple view of the issue. You can't reasonably think even a large corporation such as Epic can achieve that. That is what makes Apple/Google a duopoly in the mobile computing space. At this point, without any

That's not very fair. The main value of the App store is that it is the only store. Let other store on iOS, then we will see which one provide the best value.

Epic is just an example, and a very marginal one at that. I assume most app dev could really use fairer pricing from Apple.

I am not following. Are you saying apps development is free? That the only cost is delivering the bytes?

IMO, Apple is acting like a bully. It's using its position of power to coerce other into giving up a substantial amount of revenue for very little effort. If they want to keep this monopoly, they should make their cost transparent and

For your analogy to make sense we would have to have alternative stores to buy iOS apps from. If target was the only store in the world it should not be able to set itself whatever profit margin it wants..

I see a lot of people mentioning the low cost, saying that it's no big deal. It's not the cost that I find annoying; it's dealing with credentials and secrets..

These numbers need decompression computational complexity for completeness. I am not better off if I save 1ms downloading, but it takes 5-10 more ms decoding. Bandwidths in the 100s Mbps are common now..

Many monitors now have local array dimming to increase contrast. It's probably fair to assume that dimmed backleds lead to decrease power consumption.

The cost-benefit is not that clear-cut. Attempting to protect material at the cost of civil unrest, likely wounded protesters and police officers, possibly even more death. Sounds like taking a step back might have been the best of all the

In Canada we had the Douez v. Facebook supreme court case that, from my understanding, made forum selection clauses in consumer contracts unenforceable.

I have use http2 and http1 with domain shardind extensively and the advantage of http2 multiplexing cannot be denied. TCP connection overhead is negligible (other than the tsl negotiation maybe) and is not even really a factor.
