I'm not sure why people ask what people's profitable projects are. Do you expect to just copy the idea? If so, why would they tell you? If not, what's the point of knowing what it is?

Hah. It's funny what's happened to our generation. The young men are all apparently in the Bay Area, and the young women are all in New York. The ratio here in NYC is unbelievably skewed!

Right, we should calculate average hours per week by total hours worked per year divided by number of weeks one was paid. So if you work 50 hour weeks but get 6 weeks paid leave, that should be taken into account.

There seems to be a general Scandinavian/Nordic idealism pervasive across the internet amongst young westerners. Countless reddit threads extol the glories of living in one of these countries. Young people facing the stressors of capit

I think what needs to be more common is very powerful exhaust fans in units/homes. I constantly find myself looking for a way to suck out all the hot air out of my apartment at the end of the day in one fell swoop.

Mediterranean climate is the best in the world (it is also found in southern California). Unfortunately most of the rest of the world is drenched in humidity, which is the bane of my existence.

Seriously? What part of sleeping in a hot, humid field with thousands of other people is desirable? Since when is sleeping a group effort? Start with the noise and end with the spread of disease, the bugs, the rats, the bed bugs, etc etc...

There is nothing really lending SF towards big-mega-dense city status. Manhattan has bedrock and flat terrain, which is great for building underground subways and tall buildings and letting people walk around. SF has hilly terrain and earth

Mosquitos are terrible in Texas (the humid part) and would bite me all the time (grew up there). Now I'm in NYC the last few months, and I don't think I've been bitten even once. Or, I am being bitten, but I don't notice

Right. It's a business. I don't get any of the ad revenue. Why am I being asked to donate money for what's essentially a private equity buyout?

So I'm supposed to give money so two managers can buy out the shareholder of a company, with no expectation of returns. I'm sorry, is Hackaday a charity? Am I getting a return on my investment here? Am I getting any of that $14k

Or we could setup a free wordpress site and spread the word that the new Hackaday is at newsite.com, and not completely waste $540,000. What a disgrace.

So the problem people have with this is the lower cost to the store? They'd be happy with the tracking if the store had to spend more resources to do it? I doubt it.

Not sure why you point as far as NZ when Texas basically eliminated it by capping pain and suffering awards at $250,000. Medical malpractice insurance (which is the tort system manifested as a cost to doctors) is not the most expensive part

Americans are chronically inflamed. It's an epidemic. The lifestyle and diet are horrible. I was at a Broadway play tonight attended mostly by tourists from "non-NY America." I noticed how many people in the audience had chro

Thinking back to apartment hunting in NYC a few months ago makes me want to vomit. I am never going to do it again, I'd rather leave. I had a lucky break that did not involve using any of these services nor a broker.

I don't think it's the same. What you're describing is the unemployment scheme -- "the dole" -- and it's not so clear cut. There are asset tests: if you have a certain amount of savings in the bank, you can
