Objective metrics for audio quality estimation is a tool commonly used to develop audio products, from mobile phones to headphones, hearing aids and audio codecs. I worked briefly in that area some years ago, and have put some notes togeth

"kill" is not a good metaphor in tech/markets, because established things and companies actually goes away. "Dethrone" is better, as the newer thing at some point becomes equal, and then dominant. But the old still

Why can't you run Postgres on a 4 USD droplet? They seem to have 512 MB RAM, that is enough for a basic Postgres instance and a HTTP application server.

I would use SQLite if the embeddable part makes things considerably easier. For example, in a desktop or mobile application where a single application process is easier, because it fits the deployment model better.

That CLIP is not data / sample efficient is well know, and research to improve this is ongoing. Here is a 2021 paper which outperforms a CLIP baseline, with 7x less data. https://arxiv.org/abs/2110.05208 I am sur

13% monthly churn?? You are on track for replacing all your customers in under 1 year. Effectively you have no recurring revenue at all. Something is seriously wrong if B2B customers are leaving that fast, and you need to find out what and

Close collaboration with the users of the library can provide the same benefits. Without taking core developers away work working on the core. There seems to be dozens of games in development using Bevy, so that is a good sign!

Aha, the 3 is for M33, not Cortex M3 (as some speculated based on the name). That makes a lot more sense! Integrated FPU is a big improvement over the RP2040, and M33 is a modern but proven core.

This seems like a great way to test the waters before a potential full-on transition to RISC-V. It allows to validate both technically and market reception, for a much lower cost than taping out a additional chip.

Good points. And the more reason to avoid Chrome! I do not consent to my browser behaviour being used to train ad serving models and other "AI" cases. Glad I use Firefox. It works, and while not perfect, is considerably more respe

Google is playing catch-up in the LLM space. Before 2023 they did not spend anywhere near the resources and focus on it as OpenAI - who at that point had been building for 3+years already. It is actually astounding how quickly and how many

ESP32-C3 and ESP32-C6 are pretty close. Many products could be made with either. The RMT unit is not as flexible as PIO, but will handle basic I/O cases at least.

Wondering why they did not go for M4F. Probably this means they will keep the non-standard FPU which is also on the RP2040?

Beginners use Arduino or MicroPython. For a microcontroller SDK, picolib is also quite simple. No need to deal with the boot or SPI manually. But of course built in flash will be a welcomed addition :)

I sure hope you are taking those 2.5 hours out of your working hours. They are the ones that are forcing you to do this. If they think it's worth it, fine - but it has to go out of the time they pay you for - not your free time.

I think the comparison with fab nodes is suitable. We do not know how much performance gains are going to come from it, but we do know it is going to be very expensive. Data availability for LLM is becoming trickier. There are at least two
