Even if it was true, would that in the case of NL indicate anything in regards to its taxes-welfare state? I thought it was a widely held "fact" that the NL is overcrowded and that dutchmen should try to find their lebensraum elsewhere.

Oh, yes! :) I think the idea I was trying to push was that for this trial, the outcome in courts of appeal will have more to to with politics and media leverage than the legal code.

Swedish tax rates on someone earning 100k USD would be hovering around 60%, and then there is between 12% and 25% sales tax on most things you buy. I'm surprised that I don't feel more ripped off than I do.
