Probably from Ted Kaczynski: "David Kaczynski had once admired and emulated his elder brother, but had later decided to leave the survivalist lifestyle behind.[74] He had received assurances from the FBI that he would remain anonymous and t

This is a nitpick, but "A equals B" uses the verb "equals", and "A and B are equal" uses the adjective "equal", describing a state of being. That said, reading code like English would probably suggest something like assertEqual(A,B) or A.a

I absolutely agree with you. This wasn't my point though. My point was that Person A's 10,000 hours is worth more than Person B's intelligence advantage, not that Person B will not overcome Person A. You only learn from encountering situa

Linode is great. Even if you don't use them (you should), their docs are definitely worth looking at, as they have tutorials on most of the setup and config stuff you'll want to do.

The top line there doesn't make much sense to me. It sounds like it means "The first 1000 to join get the Premium Theme Pack for free!", but I'm not sure what the "more share" part is. I'm not so into this kind of thing, so I don't want to

Clickable: http://challengein.com Based solely on the tagline, it sounds like foursquare. The graphics remind me of board games though, leaving me questioning my previous conclusion and thus mystified.

Because so often, computer science education boils down to "code this, now here's your degree" without requiring any of the mathier stuff.

Doesn't this go against the 10,000 hours thing? Sure, taking someone who is smarter and has more experience than other students and putting them in front of a computer will yield these results. However, someone who is solely smarter and d

Depending on the type of content you need, you could try leveraging Mechanical Turk. Or, as others have said, fake it. Also, posting a link here couldn't hurt (providing it is live).

This kind of questions gets asked a lot here. The common response is "Fake it." Follow reddit's lead and generate content yourself until others catch on. You also might try mechanical turk, though I have no experience with this myself.

Could posts also include location? I'm in the northeast, and I'm sure others would like to be able to skim for locations without leaving the page as well.

I find the facebook share link on this page to be poetic. On a serious note, how long will it take facebook to kill this the same way it did http://www.suicidemachine.org ? I'd love to see one of these succeed, but if my memory serves m

But these are help docs. For people who are not necessarily tech savvy, "browser crash" would likely mean the whole program, not a tab, and that's if it meant anything at all. They'd probably have a good middle ground saying a tab crashes

I've been in this same situation before. Campus busses at my university do this; why can't a company that only does buses do it too? In fact, I'd even pay an extra buck to see the info. They could use GPS data plus a phone app to improve

Shoot me an email (in profile) with a list of pages to proof read. I'm not a content writer, but I can probably find and big errors. I'd be happy to help out with that if you'd like.

I really admire the thought behind that, but I think it will just confuse people. People are used to seeing discounts when buying in bulk. From a psychological perspective, people see that as "buy more = pay less". This way, to some peop

I've actually been looking for a good feedback solution for a while. I like the look of the app a lot, and I'll try it out in the wild soon. The one thing I find weird about it is "Just $12 / month or less". Normally apps give price floo

All app stores, IMHO, are about app discovery for people who want to search as little as possible. The iPhone app store is the only way to get apps "legally" on the iPhone, but other than that, app stores don't do a whole lot other than se

I'll agree with this on one condition: don't hold syntax errors against me. I interviewed for a position about eight months ago. I was rusty with my C (had been doing more java and python around that time), and put "int i = 0" in a for lo

One thing I'd personally like is an analytics type of view for my stats. i.e. graphs of different stats over time to show improvement. I don't know how much social stuff there is to be done, because steam already has a decent community vi

Ok, cool, you've got my cursor. Do you have any ideas on what to add to steam stats on that site somewhere? I'm an avid steam (mostly valve) gamer myself, and I like to keep track of accuracy, headshots, etc. What would you add?

This looks like a game of telephone. WSJ summarized a few research firms and paraphrased cable providers. Then, Gizmodo puts two images next to each other, throws in the word correlation, and acts as if it is a scientific study. If you f
