You only know the Snuggie is for watching TV in hindsight - because customers told us. I think it's a tough call when both products are still the idea phase.

This is not apples vs apples. Some of those items are living cows, and some are cooked steaks served with a side of mashed potatoes. I'm sure the cow looks cheap (per pound) until you are tasked with turning it into a steak.

I thought it was common knowledge that they were expecting a profit this year, on revenue in the hundreds of millions. I could be wrong though.

I don't recall the author claiming he wasn't getting girls. He does, however, seem to be trying to form a logical argument.

If you're looking for a wife, it's no more difficult here than anywhere else. If you're looking for a dating scene, you will be disappointed if you're coming from the Midwest or South.

That is spot on. Population-wise, SF men outnumber the women by something like 55%-45%. However, if you tried to estimate that number based on the nightlife scene, you'd arrive at something like 70%-30%. I think the psychological concept

I would think that facebook (and their mobile apps) are a bigger threat than google. They could add a 'share my location with friends' feature that would be competitive.

Not trying to be critical, but any position that is associated with managing revenue tends to have a high correlation with success. What kind of startup hires a CFO? Exactly. I know a controller who has a similar track record.

This strategy clearly lacks some of the benefits of ramen profitability, most obviously the demonstrated ability to get someone to pay for your product. However, I wonder if this approach could serve as a less risky way to pursue ramen pro
