The average across all users is $12, but I suspect the average over people willing to pay for Blue is likely higher than that. It's can be a Catch-22 in some cases. The same people most willing to pay to opt-out are the ones most cove

Did anyone catch this in the comments below? > There is one major category of wealth-producing activity that I just thought of that I did leave out. I'll leave it as an exercise to see if anyone can figure it out :-) I'll post

The problem with your idea is that the court is sometimes weighing/balancing competing rights and responsibilities from separate parts of the Constitution. For example, when is a church’s hiring practice an equal protection violation?

I have a similar address and get a lot of similar email. My personal favorite was a contract offer to play for a minor league baseball team in the Midwest a few summers back. I also once got hired by the National Park Service for what sound

The headline is a bit misleading. Is it “Reddit” as a company shutting it down, or an unpaid mod team? Is the AMA mod team employed by the company?

They might, because it keeps them in the cohort for next year. I don’t think a lot of Harvard kids are going to drop out and head to state school, and Harvard knows it.

How so? If they achieved the same results as others on roughly the same timeline, yet with more deaths, how is that a successful strategy?

We don’t need to reopen schools to solve the meal problem. My school district kept providing meals even after the school itself was closed.

How does that work, legally? I’m not a lawyer, but it seems like a competing business that didn’t get the discount could sue Uber for racial discrimination.

You don’t even need ML. Let’s say you use some standard encryption routine to turn text into a string of numbers. You could then use those numbers as an index into another text corpus, let’s say a known copy of the Bible. The only hiccup w

I'd be cautious here. Especially this year, polling locations are moving around in response to COVID (mine moved for the primary, and its unclear if its moving back for the general election or not). A mailer with the wrong polling lo

This is a good reminder that sometimes the plaintiff in a major decision like this often doesn’t have the strongest ideological link to the issue at hand, but the facts of their specific case made it the best exemplar to bring before the Su

I don't run a German website, so I can't give you exact numbers, but in my experience, software can often default to something like 'en-US' in a variety of cases where you might not expect it to. This is especially commo

This is only a good suggestion if all the other people in Germany that want German content have their browser languages correctly configured. My guess is that they don’t, and this fix would hurt more users than it helps.

Is it really voluntary choosing not to work when the state is telling you to stay home and you comply? Again, it’s a really terrible way to treat your employees.
