It would massively simplify the job of proving the upper language more correct. It may also be possible to proxy the type system in order to make use of existing tooling.

I didn't say we should use Typescript, I was suggesting a FP dialect which compiles to typescript.

Perhaps under this logic Google should start their own newspaper, which reports the publication of every news story on every French news website. That way they are simply reporting the facts, and are no longer liable for copyright infringem

I truly believe TypeScript is the only true way forward for frontend web programming. Now what we really need is a functional dialect which compiles to TypeScript...

A tab in vscode has a dot in it if the contents are modified since last save. If a save is complete, that dot will go away. If there is no dot, the file is unmodified.

Cambridge is a special case - as I understand, it's the UK's hub for hobbyist mappers, ~all of which use OpenStreetMap as a base.

I think you have misunderstood slightly. GET, for example, is an idempotent method [1], which means "the intended effect on the server of multiple identical requests with that method is the same as the effect for a single such request.

It sounds like the person you're responding to already releases their code under a non-commercial license. The problem with Copilot is that it may allow commercial enterprises to avoid such a license by copying the code verbatim fr

Many Haxe game engines do indeed provide a shim layer which converts things like objects, pathing, behaviours, and triggers from the level engine's output into game logic. For examples, see https://haxeflixel.com/docume

It's a fair point, I should have been more precise in my response. What I meant to say was, "what does regulation do, other than prevent an undesirable class of actions?"

I'm sorry to hear that, but it's not quite relevant to the point that the parent was making about Europe. For what it's worth, I live in the UK which has similar woes to how you describe Canada's two-party system. Howeve

What claims do you think I have made? All I have said above is that taxation (a) is complicated and (b) has hidden externalities, both of which are obviously correct and appropriate responses to the things being asked.

The Government is not "being paid" tax dollars[^0], it is (in principle, at least) spending and redistributing wealth in ways which benefit all citizens. UKGov releases these reports, for example https://www.gov.uk/

It feels like the author is describing a healthy type system and language purity. In most programming languages, the pain points they describe are real - how do we know that a program will give back exactly what we put in? The answer is to
