I think we can actually blame React and similar frameworks for the issues we see in many modern apps, including the ones mentioned in the article. Part of the issue stems from the "strong data coupling" that's all the rage. E

There's no such thing as a "problem of base2". Base 2 is an ineffable fact of the universe, and it is neither virtuous nor problematic. All the problems you are describing are problems of floating-point arithmetic.

Placing the burden of responsibility for security on the end user is not the way to go about this - at least, not if you want people to actually use your product / language. Package managers do not only exist as a convenience. They s

I wonder whether modern robotics would fulfil their definition of "slavery"... Or whether modern patronage on its own (university research, arts funding, etc) would suffice in their view.

Hate to break it to you, but injecting human emotion into speech is more than just putting intonation and punctuation in the right place.

If the lesson is "use languages specifically designed for the use case", then that's a lesson worth learning.

Oh, I see what you mean! In the UK, "potted" plants are actually called pot plants more often than not.

There is a clear subtext in everything put out by Tesla and Uber that their cars are self-driving. That is to say, they drive themselves. That is to say, nobody else needs to drive them in order for them to get from A to B. If they are trul

This is silly. The only party here marking the end of "friendly generational relations" is the NY Times itself. Drawing lines through society is the cheapest and easiest way to look wise without making any meaningful comment.

On the off-chance that this was said unironically, you should never trust someone just because they say you should. Especially if they aren't sharing the code.

I think the UK is leaning towards summer time all year. People seem to greatly prefer going home in the light than waking up in it. [Plus it'll keep us more in sync with Europe, assuming they stick on standard time]

Seems like an interesting idea. There's a huge problem with this website, though. It's a search engine and the most prominent thing on the page is a giant picture of some people. Put the search box, writ large, right in the middle

The three horizontal lines ("hamburger") is meant to represent entries in a vertical menu. In situations where pressing the button doesn't reveal a vertical menu, it makes no sense whatsoever.

No, you cannot. I think the intention is to deprive you of the opportunity to start writing at all. There are studies that show the longer you take thinking before acting, the better your outcomes are.
