People are far enough removed from each other on the internet. Knowing who posted something tells a lot. For example, I've been browsing HN about 3 months and I already know to pay extra attention to what tptacek on security. I believe peop

I have to agree it was a badly worded question. I think the OP has bandwidth concerns. Dropbox could charge based off an upload metric similar to Evernote (which gives 40 MB of transfer free a month). http://www.evernote.com/about/premium

Not to turn this into a huge circle jerk but for me it's the simplicity. I can recommend it to my friends without worrying that they will ask me to troubleshoot later. Edit: And I am sure it is the same for other people. The simplicity adds

Great post. I never thought about the direction of people's faces but I wonder if this had anything to do with the fact that it was a (cute) baby. What happens if your website does not deal in babies? But I bet the same thing applies if you

Why the monthly plan? I know subscription is the holy grail because people set it and forget it. But are you implying teachers should cancel it during the three summer months if they aren't teaching? And do teachers really pay for two month

Free for one class seems interesting but how would you distinguish between their classes? What happens if a teacher just put all their students on the one. I think you don't mind getting it to some people for free.

I've been at a few big companies now and I have to agree that sales people have certain personality traits. But it might not be because sales attracts the usual stereotypes. I think it's that effective salespeople are able to better relate

Just a quick thought: If the product can be given as a gift, maybe you should leave a "give as gift" option. When you ask for credit card later, you eliminate the chance for your best customer. If a parent, spouse or friend gives a subscrip

At some point the state agencies has to clamp down on people not paying taxes (known as a use tax) on their Amazon purchases. I know a lot of my friends purchase from Amazon because they save 8.5% in tax. It's significant when you make a pu

I think one interesting dynamic is that publishers have visibility. I am mostly thinking about books. There are book clubs and book reviewers. I wonder how many people buys a book just because it's on Oprah's Book Club. (apparently, a lot,
