Because UI, like build systems, are really just huge state dependency graphs in disguise.

I tried for a year to learn XAML (mostly using Avalonia) and it just never clicked for me. Feels like it needs too much secret insider knowledge that you're only going to get with that decade of C#. To much is implicit and magical, and

I am using Avalonia. If I were doing windows only I might use MAUI or WPF or something but afaik they are pretty similar, and I want it to be cross platform on mac. The interface of the app is C#, the core is in CPP (I am tempted to use Zig

I think this is just an artifact of people using much higher particle count these days. When you have more of them it's more noticeable that they are points.

I use an app called SightReading factory for this https://www.sightreadingfactory.com/ . It's not exactly as you describe as it generates short, random but musical passages for sight reading, but it has a lot of option

Your rendering API is not going to implement GI for you, and having it in a sample app is kind of misleading, that's not really the point. It's probably a mistake to include that as a sample scene as it creates the impression that

If you're looking for something like this, Sokol is a much simpler alternative: https://github.com/floooh/sokol It doesn't support vulkan though, but if that's important to you you're probably much

I've tried this a lot, and I will say no, it's not realistically possible if you're being a purist. The simple counterexample, take setpixel, which takes an image buffer, and returns an image buffer with one pixel changed. No

Yeah but it looks pretty weird and blobby down there, and a lot of the street data is pretty warped and strange looking. I'm playing around with this for a cycling app, I think I'm going to go with sort of a drone follow camera.

Tip: If you're loading these .glbs in blender, add an "Attribute" node in the shader editor, put "Col" in the name field, and connect "Color" to "Base Color" in the material to see the colors.

Yeah i've had to do this with other dependencies (which we didn't have source for) including an old or broken version of the same library we needed. It's a bit of a pain to get everything in a namespace, and of course the blo

It's fine. Usually projects will develop conventions for handling dynamic types, it's not like you never have any idea what type things are. Places where things are ambiguous you add in tests or asserts to make sure the callers ar

As a graphics programmer, my suggestion would be encoding the font into an SDF (signed distance field) texture atlas (there are a lot of tools out there to do this for atlasing text, but it's useful for effects too), then draw both wor

Hi, this sounds very interesting. I'd consider it as an indie dev if the DRM stuff weren't there, IMO any injectable DRM stuff is going to cause more problems than it solves, and piracy is not a huge concern anyways (it's &qu

Do it. I've used Ink for tutorials, and it's magic. It works so well. If you add a way to update changes while the app or game is running, it makes an amazing workflow for the tutorial authors or level designers.

You can only get so far with this, the lighting and perspective won't match and you'll end up with a "collage" look, especially as you add more images. You can sometimes feed the result back through img2img and get it to

All of these are good, I'd also suggest looking at videos from Grant Abbott on youtube, he's got a lot of blender videos that are both beginner friendly but non-trivial and good, clear explanations.

This might have changed, but in my experience the big barrier to having a distributed render farm is transferring possibly many gigs of textures and resources (sims, point clouds, etc) to each render agent, not necessarily the render time.

I struggle with this too. What is helping me (but I still haven't figured it out) is to try and stop thinking of it as a long project with a single "DONE" but instead as a series of steps (milestones) which would be good deci

I don't agree with apple that this should be rejected, but it does seem like something that would work better as a web app. Also then it would be available to people on other platforms as well.
