No it's not. The utility for the users is the same. The lobbying power trying to make that choice is completely different.

I don’t agree. I got a feeling that in the political space we are given a binary choice between two dudes. The winner is then being courted by big-something to make a decision that benefits said dude. All the nuance and actual say about pre

I would argue that efficiency is more important only in offgrid applications where you absolutely need to get a specific amount of energy no matter what. If you are on grid but space constricted the price per watt or rather LCOE is more rel

I have a 5-node ceph cluster built out of Fujitsu desktops that I got for 50 euro a piece. 4 nodes have 8gb ram and one has 16gb. CPU in each is i5-6500. Each has an NVMe that is split for OS and journal and a spinning HDD. The cluster idle

The cold places are usually extreme latitudes. I live around 60 latitude and here during the winter it might not be even that cold (tho it can be -20 or -30C). It’s that the amount of sunshine hours and the angle it shines at means that for

4 billion tonnes of coal mined per year. 2021 produced 50 thousand tons of pure lithium. Coal gets used ONCE, lithium stores energy thousands of times before recycling to do it again. This kind of context is important before whatabouting.

There is that but there are also massive budget and schedule overruns that lead into lots of risk and interest payment expenses. Not to say that the whole industry does not benefit from learning curves. Solar and wind have had massive cost

You are talking about mostly unknown maybe externalities. I’m talking about the massive externality of climate change that is certain. Waiting for nuclear to maybe get its shit together is not a gamble that we can take. That said, I have no

Which other countries are building nuclear in a meaningful capacity? We need a reactor going online each week to make a dent. Not disagreeing that the regulations in the US are way too onerous for nuclear.

Dreaming on both counts. We are in a situation where we simply can’t buy hopes, dreams, promises and marketing. Build or shut up. Nuclear is just not delivering. I wish it did tho.

Sure. Reality is that solar is being built at a much faster pace than predicted for much cheaper than predicted. Nuclear. Crickets. Also you are overplaying the amount of panels covering land and sea.

Solar inverters can curtail super easy. It’s the thermal power plants that sometimes can’t, or rather it could be beneficial for them to pay for a few hours and not let off steam until there are profitable hours again. I’m pretty sure that

In my climate the problem is air being too dry inside during winter. Outside air is normal humidity 50-80% RH at -10C. Inside it will be 20% and way too dry. Ventilation, heat recovery and moisture recovery would be ideal. During summer we
