Te author is… delusional at best. USB has multiple standards that use the “a” type port. And many peripherals exist that are primarily “a” and not “c”. Apple is on the usb-c track because the eu is forcing them to conform to such.

Actually, if there are (and there are usually are) citizens with the skillset, the person on the visa should not be hired. And these visas are used by companies to not hire those with the same skills. The various body shops are one thing,

I'm sure many US-based tech companies can be blamed for preferring the cheaper option ... I would think our visa process plays no small part here, further the lax compliance on what "special skillset" means in the case of H-*

I've got a couple of different Macbooks...My first M1 was a 16gig M1 Air. I usually splurge for more storage (and memory), 16gig was the most that was available at that time. The machine still works well for development, running VMs,

This predates me, but the toys we had to play on back in the 70s and 80s weren't much different. I feel like many things have been tamed down here in the states, litigious people are likely a large part of it.

The statement implies the students being taught in schools today are learning at a level they should be. With all the exceptions made and dumbing down of curriculum, most classes teach to the least abled in the class holding back many. Tha

Am I the only one shaking my head that they kept comparing the M3 chips against M1 chips skipping M2? Just like the last product release spent more time on huffing their own farts (the Apple Watch is the first of its kind carbon negative pr

The funny thing, I am on HN every day and never heard of Cosmic until today. Never heard of Deno until I talked with a company that was leveraging it for some isolated trusted compute stuff (I shake my head at JS and trusted compute, but t

Group 2 usually includes those that have the United Chase card, anyone with gold status, etc. I agree it's quite populous.

This should have an interesting impact on CA gas prices. I see news of gas prices dropping and prices have only gone up over the last months in CA. So I don’t see this being a net positive in prices.

We have a couple Thai’s in our personal collection. The retail prices are still high, but down from a year or so back and much easier to find.

Owned a plant store up for a few years (closed earlier this year). One of the primary growers of "rare" plants in the US was Costa Farms out of Florida. For instance, the it plant for awhile was a Thai Constellation - the prices

I don't doubt they would be able to do so. I think the choice of doing so, maintaining esthetics, and making it such that a layman can do it while not making tradeoffs they don't want to probably play into it.

It adds to the cost of goods and probably the manufacturing process. Yes, you used to be able to replace batteries easily. Most are long, thin & flat to go with slimmer phones. Possible, for sure, but we will see.

If the EU does mandate it, like USB-C we will see the corresponding iPhone release tout how they have the greenest batteries and an amazing (same number) X hours of batterylife, but only the greenest battery life. Snark aside and how most p

Power and consumption and size are probably significantly more important than the three you list. How often do you "upgrade the ram" in an application where something like a Pi may be used as a component in a larger system?
