I blame people like the author for the coming world war (technically we're already in it but it's not massive yet). They just regurgitate narratives without ever having an original thought and they don't understand they'

What about security? I didn't see it mentioned in the paper. Most of the "junkyard phones" are way out of support, who's going to build anything serious with this? It's a security disaster waiting to happen.

Good for you that you can choose only the best. The rest of us are in the trenches making do despite the unending stream of spaghetti code that cruel gods have chosen to torment us with.

Here is an anecdote to illustrate how "The Machine TM" tried to get me fired. For context, Microsoft introduced a "AI revamped Intellisense" in Visual Studio (not Code) a few months ago. It's not Copilot, it just ma

My point was that I'm not a rarity, not everybody makes 100k+ a year even in the "West", there are a lot of people like me that have to watch carefully what they spend.

I live in Belfort in eastern France near the Swiss and German border. It's a small town, there's not many opportunities here but I have aging parents I have to take care of so I can't move.

I don't think OP referred to authoritarianism about children, but authoritarianism in general. If you had tried to get over the wall you'd been shot and your family questioned. And they probably would have been suspects for the re

AFAIK most of the Dart server projects have been abandoned so I'm weary to try new ones. Let's hope this one will stick, it looks cool.

You can't stop these kinds of double edge swords from being developed but what I'd like is for people to get together and dev a counter to that, something like DetectDeepFace. For me everything (image, text, sound etc) that comes

My 71yo mother is a Linux user. She just use Firefox and a couple Sudoku apps, so not exactly a power user. Before she was a Windows user and I had to regularly maintain her computer. Not anymore since Linux. Thanks Linux.

There are countless open source projects that don't charge a dime and don't have the "Gnome attitude". There's such a thing as too opinionated (and it's coming from someone that likes opinionated).
