I believe your argument is that, because the author of a NYT piece has the right to free speech, any law prohibiting the NYT from publishing that article is invalid. Not because the NYT has a right to free speech, but because one can "

That was my first thought, but this line: >His body was hot to the touch and he sweated heavily, he constantly had foul body odour [...] suggests an fantastically high baseline metabolism.

I'm very interested in Pijul! Patch-based version control always seemed like a much more intuitive paradigm to me. That said: From reading these comments, I would say that perhaps the number one priority for the project is an education

I am wary of A People's History myself, as he tends to pick his conclusions first, then cherry-pick anecdotes to support those conclusions. These articles are good overviews of some of the issues: Howard Zinn's History Lessons: h

As a novice programmer, I was absolutely stunned that this was not standard practice. A typical source file provides zero context, background on the subject, pointers to reference material/blog posts/books explaining the concepts,

Unfortunately "calories going in" is not easily obtainable, as absorption is affected by cooking, what foods are in the gut together, individual variation, and how the foods are physically composed together (mashed, whole, blended

Is it problematic outside of the US? That said, possibly not the most immediately illustrative choice of terms; master/slave usually implies who's in charge, not a spatial relationship.

Why not do that screen/tmux style, where shell takes input and passes it to foreground program, unless it's one of those special key sequences?

That's a (valid) critique of using U3 instead of U6. But the US government has been using U3 as the "official" unemployment since at least 1994. You asserted that "they [the Obama and Bush administrations?] even had to e

I'm in one of the hardest hit areas in Canada. Rental vacancies hit ~0% last summer. House prices jumped ~20% last year alone. Amusingly, the crunch has been so bad that our city has reached the point where we have approximately as man

I'm surprised this still hasn't been implemented, given there must be some industry pressure to do so. Under Android, all(?) the various consumer wireless audio implementations (Sonos, AirPlay, etc.) require users to either use a

I would argue that the time frames involved are very dissimilar. In a Tesla, you need to be able to take complete control in under a second if the system fails. The closest I can think of in a plane is during an assisted landing, which is

LEDs are great, but retrofitting them into the old bulb form-factor is the cause of most problems. The power supplies get too hot, the LEDs get too hot, and everything is generally cramped together with little room for cooling.
