Is that narrative still true post-modern cpp? On some level it feels like the cpp narrative was written in the early 2000s and hasn't kept pace with reality. Too cluttered, too object-centric, bad compile times, sure. Is the cognitive

As someone who mostly enjoys cpp, for me the math just didn't seem worth it to really get fluent in rust. I agree there are less system jobs than app jobs kind of prima facie, but there's not exactly a lack of systems jobs for cpp

enforcing even a basic non-compete in Texas is roughly impossible unless you steal existing clients or IP.

This is probably a thing, but to me it is more about having the house to myself when everyone is asleep. So it's also an introvert thing IMO.

Not to take away from the accomplishment, but hopefully the "selfie auth" isn't considered the penultimate verification. With no social engineering, just finding a public photo of someone, one could composite a short video th

That is excellent. I've had to tackle a similar issue at my current place, except I am chaining long data pipelines with external repositories together. My solve was an api gateway that was verbose but highly configurable. I wonder if

More helpfully, salting their db with real emails but fake contact info requires a more durable hygiene process and often isn't worth the effort for data driven shops. You serve a variety of email domains that validate as deliverable,

You don't bounce emails you prebounce them and clean up your list. This is part of any sensible data engineers process.

I've not heavily researched this but I was curious if anyone has real experience with it. For a couple of very meaningful graph functions it's 700-800% faster. The claim is gpu acceleration as the innovation.

There is a reason to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech doesn't need protecting. However, that's not the issue that concerns me. My issue is the conflation of TOS, applied as is expedient, on a resource that is treated in th

Feel free to delete this if there is another thread I can't find. I am no Trump supporter, but this is the modern version of a book burning. The two points of contention in my mind: 1) At what point does a platform or technology become

This is a bit of a hail mary but I also really enjoy the data engineer role. I came in to the role from the software engineer side when I took a job at a data first type start up. I was recently offered an opportunity at Amazon as a data en

I appreciate the thoughtful commentary. I couldn't disagree more with you more of course. There are 2 instances where AI breaks the mold you've cast. Executing rote tasks that no humans need do, and relatedly, while there does see

This may doom me as a merely okay candidate but a simple paging strategy in python trivializes the problem and has the added benefit of probably being the "okay-est" tool for whatever the next transform is as well.

I liken it to sending a chef to a grocery store. It's not just about being a good cook. Half the battle is in choosing the correct ingredients. Not just a dozen eggs, but free range where the yolks will be a vibrant orange yellow and i

I believe only humans and dogs hunt via stamina. You can walk a horse to death or simply chase an antelope until it overheats and dies.
