I recently sent this link to my 16 year old brother: http://paulgraham.com/hs.html There's a lot in there I wish I'd known.

I agree. Python is a great language with fantastic support. I'm reading ANSI Common Lisp right now (it was a 30th b-day gift from mom, actually - does that officially qualify me as a geek?). I don't know that I'll get to a point where I'm

I TOTALLY thought this was going to be about Steve Ballmer. But then I realized that he's not really living a normal life.

YC can't and shouldn't provide reasons why. They've already said as much. In their case, it's different from Fred Wilson. YC has to say no just twice a year. For Fred Wilson and any other VC, it's an ongoing thing. There's a difference.

He's right. If you are in a position that requires you to say no a lot, you should learn to do it quickly and honestly. It probably helps him keep his sanity, and shoot-the-messenger type entrepreneurs aside, probably makes his relationship

I hear you. The reason those are popping up is because after the decisions are made, the posts are almost ALL about rejection and what it means that YC said no. A few preemptive posts the day before will balance out all the rejection posts

I see your point. That's why giving honest answers to "why?" is crucial.

I apologize if yesterday's post sparked some sort of mushy reflection on rejection. Not my intention, honestly.

Two actually, my dad had a Macintosh SE in his office and we had a Tandy 1000 at home. Man, I LOVED that game "Bugs!". Does anyone remember that one?

You seem like a pretty smart guy and this might be bad advice; is there any way you can scale back what you're doing? Can you get something smaller done so you don't have to spend as much and invest as much time and energy?

Theoretically it will work, but the problem is getting the counterpart there. If you want instantaneous communication to something 20 light years away, you've got to travel 20 light years to get it there first.
