Cheap may be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Personally, I could never run with corded headphones again. I've used Motorola S8/S9 forever. Get last gen for $30-40, and they've held up to years of sweat.

Wow, then I was really lucky to have gotten dengue the last time I was in the country, 12 years ago. At the time I remember reading that there was little chance of it spreading back to the States where those mosquitoes don't exist, so

The Realtek is a competitor, the Nordics you mention are not. The nRF24L01 uses a proprietary radio. Some of the nRF chips are popular for Bluetooth Low Energy especially given that they do have Cortex M processors that can be used to run a

Even if you can't directly monetize the golden rule, a lot of accessibility work is super-simple thanks to the toolmakers giving it forethought. You can get to 80% of it in an iOS app by just making sure you've got descriptive tex

Yes! A great read even if you don't have a CS degree. It helped me get the emergent behavior bug, the same way NewtonScript made OOP click for me. The descendents of his multi-turtle Logo variant, StarLogo, are still going, including o

You youths! I had a similar introduction to Logo, on an Apple ][ at a computer day camp in the summer of 198x. We programmers tend to love learning the shiny new languages, but it's thanks to the enduring idea behind this language th

One of the things I've learned from this is that our security apparatus has a will of its own well beyond whoever's sitting in the White House. I doubt it will be closely tied with Obama, rather just lumped into the "Post 9&#

I think that describes much of the startup scene altogether. A lot of people seem willing to forgo a surer path to wealth by taking options instead of salary (as worked out here many times). Is it because they want to be really, really rich

Even with color, it just won't be anywhere as good as the screens we're used to now. There are two things holding E-Ink back: 1) Battery life alone is not worth the tradeoff for the consumer market. 2) The flexibility of the form

Like AI, IoT is a catch-all term for the things that are not yet significant enough to have their own more specific category. Useful applications arise from the primordial soup and acquire their own name.
