As a mid-twenties man, I see this constantly among my friends. It started a few years ago when sports betting was legalized in my home state and when I was at a bar before Thanksgiving to see some friends, half of them were watching a baske

I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi. Corny name, but generally good advice for people who don't have an interest in personal finance. I buy it for friends when they get engaged.

Is it? It'd be a good way to catch people doing something that's seriously damaging to others for personal gain. I don't think I have much sympathy if you lose your job for doing something this damaging and probably illegal.

Big thanks to you and the entire Framework team. The work y'all are doing is incredible. I'm a very happy customer and I'm excited to see how Framework grows and I'm excited to continue to be a customer!

That's such a fantastic movie. Of course Will is a special case and is a gifted person, but the line at the bar early in the movie: > You wasted $150,000 on an education you could've got for $1.50 in late fees at the public lib

I'm excited for their improvements. It's got to be incredibly hard to start a company that does what they do. Not the repairability part, but anything with modern hardware, firmware, and software. When I think of the other big nam

As long as there's way to identify a true unit test (no outside dependencies) vs an integration test (some dependencies like a DB or Redis), it doesn't matter to me. I'd like to be able to see which category they're in a

I completely agree. I use products because they're useful, not because I'm invested (financially or emotionally) in the business creating said product.

A lot of languages have added support for this over the last few years. It's a nice little quality of life improvement. I use it very regularly now. I find it really handy for currency amounts in cents, so I can say `10_00` for ten dol

When I was in college, I had an internship at a large US retailer. Since their main goal was to sell clothes, the tech side of things was pretty slow - especially for interns. I ended up having a lot of time to sit on my hands (my manager w

It's worth noting that Realpage owns their namespake product, but they've also acquired Propertyware and Buildium, two other property management systems, over the years. With that, they have access to quite a lot of rent market da

I swear the best looking software like this is all built for MacOS. Maybe there's a lot of it on Windows as well, but I don't see a ton of it on HN (maybe just the demo?). Is the ecosystem part of this? Is it that the application

Someone seriously did a s/twitter/x/g seemingly (or the raw string replace equivalent). Maybe there are more requirements here, but it seems like just parsing a URL and checking for `twitter.com` and some other literal domain

Apologies for the language. I didn't intend it to come off that way. I was using the term in a generic way to mean "getting rid of stuff _they_ don't want". I didn't intend to refer to the actual staff as lesser.

Is it scummy and scammy? I don't see anything wrong with someone selling their notes on a subject, no matter the price. The purchaser can choose if it's worth it to them or if it's not. I don't see the scummy or the scam
