I would have wished that Apple had been the ones acquiring Realm. They really had the best API for building apps with live collaboration I have ever experienced. Instead they went to MongoDB, so who knows how that will end?

Are you referring to Blooms 2 sigma problem ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom%27s_2_sigma_problem )? While it did show that, that research was not done until the 80’s.

Another solid alternative is Realm. We have used it for several projects, and the experience was light years ahead of Firebase. But since they got acquired by MongoDB things have gone a bit quiet, so who knows?

It is interesting to take a look a the overall trend in total number of deaths (without filtering specifically for those attributed to COVID-19). The graphs for an area like New York clearly look like we are undercounting Coronavirus deaths

MongoDB recently bought Realm which is an amazing mobile database with first class replication, so if I was starting a new project that also needs mobile I would definitely go with MongoDB.

This is something Realm does really well, both locally on the device and also with live subscriptions to data in the cloud. We used this for our mobile apps and the experience was pretty awesome. The ability to live observe both individual

I’ve used Realm for this very successfully. It is a bit limited in the number of languages it supports (outside of mobile where it seems to support pretty much everything), but it has really nice support for node.js and .net which is where

The offline database experience still looks really primitive compared to Realm, and all the documentation seems to purposefully avoid any details with regards to conflict resolution. Are there any plans to address this?

A better example would be schools, which are definitely run as tyrannies, and where the students are legally compelled to stay in place. Democratic schools do exist, but they are few and far in between.

No, but if you interview casino owners (people who make decisions that means they regularly get a lucky outcome, even if they don't win all the time), you will probably get pretty good advice.
