It's rather extreme to refuse to visit the US because of just that. However, refusing to visit countries that do things you don't agree with is a rational decision. I have a friend who declared he would totally refuse to visit Nor

Thanks for bringing this up. This issue has been really itchy for a while for me personally. There is no way to trust reviews of anything online anymore. In the past, I have been relying on online reviews and feel smart, now I feel I'm

Totally agree. My mom wouldn't know that damn dialog has two buttons. This is the epitome of “we’re shitty by default, but if you know your way around our system, then you’re fine.” Yeah... how about no? Just wrote about it here: http

I have a high altitude balloon+electronics education project and it is very fun. We were using our pocket money. It can get expensive really quickly was very hard to raise money for this kind of stuff. We spend about $300 per launch (not in

I don't have a Facebook account because I am not fond of them. But then, in Vietnam Facebook is big because it does two good things. First, it brings unofficial news to everyone -- you can follow political dissidents. In the past, peop

Clocks and watches, like old/homebrew computers, are very cool. They are hard but not too hard to the point that an amateur can't do it. I always envy the amount of ingenuity someone has that went into making a watch. There is an

I know many people who care but they think they can "outsmart" Facebook by having workarounds for its annoying and evil nature. They do it by not giving it their permission to access the address book, location, nude pictures, etc.

Stories like this totally make sense to me. Dreams are the most fearful force in our lives. A teacher needs to transfer inspirations to their students just as much as knowledge and experience. Experience can be gained by exposure, but inspi

I keep a bottle of water too. Yes, I think realistically the only reason that I'm stuck that way is because of a blizzard. Melting snow is going to be the solution. In any case I think given I don't die right away, the best chance

I recently re-read the story of James Kim, and got interested in the "toy" question: If I am stuck in a blizzard or a disaster, what should I be worried about? The rule of thumb is I can be cold for 3 hours, be thirsty for 3 days,

That's what the person did -- they put wpa_supplicant.conf to the boot partition -- but somehow the Pi wouldn't connect, and they had no way to debug it to figure out what went wrong.

That's what I suggest people to use now. The USB microphone needs power and one more USB port. If the Pi had a microphone input, we would have absolutely no need for the second USB port. Not having to have the second USB port means we

PXE booting is sweet. I develop an OS (Crankshaft) for the Pi, and a lot of times it just has been waiting to write a new OS to the SD card, waiting, plugging it in, realizing I forgot to do something, so I had to repeat. Each time it was 1
