Well yes, guessing words is the entirety of what an LLM is engineered to do. Are you saying that is the entirety of what human minds do as well?

If you go far enough in a field, you start to recognize areas where your personal opinion differs from the “best practices” usually recommended. I think by design an LLM can’t do that. It’s built to reflect the distribution of the knowledg

Because of the definitions of the words you strung together into that question. It answers itself.

Agents are perfectly capable of using the same APIs designed for humans.

Why not just give the agent a short lived token with limited access rights? We have reached the point where we need to control agent access the same way we control human access to systems.

True but a pretty shitty sandbox and we need a less leaky and more general sandbox solution ASAP.

Or just write good API docs that humans can use too.

What about just handing the agent a token with limited time to live and constrained access permissions?

Understood but it seems like effectively sandboxing cash is a very very important problem for the industry to solve! Would be a much more robust and general solution of the problem of controlling and auditing agentic access to sensitive inf

Did you know that computer programs, once written, can be stored to disk once and run many times?

Yes, having LLMs write deterministic programs is still an under used solution. Less token spend, lower latency, more predictable results compared to having the LLM perform the task directly every time.

Sure but that common case should go into the core APIs, not an MCP.

The service itself needs to control what the agent can access. Relying on an intermediary to provide access controls, and that agents will never access the service directly, seems dangerous and naive.

I feel like this would build a false sense of security. Authentication and access controls must be able to withstand an agent with full shell access. And auditing must be on the server side to provide a full picture of all activity from al

This unironically. The design of pipes and the philosophy of simple composable tools tied together with the Unix shell has proven remarkably difficult to improve upon.

> bash-only tooling has higher success for bash-capable models, compared to using predefined tools for models that aren't good at bash? No. The conclusion is that: bash-capable models + bash-only tools > bash-capable models + pr

I wasn’t aware of those episodes but from that description sounds like people writing the show who despise the character and the audience.

The show For All Mankind is a truly bittersweet look at how space exploration could have turned out differently. I’m sure the technical challenges are much greater than how they are portrayed in the show. But certainly there has been a lac
