No True Scotsman... I like the drawings. Cute, positive and informative. Superficial way to judge the content, too.

If it isn't clear, this is the transcript of the first episode of a podcast called "Masters of Scale". https://mastersofscale.com/

Here's a question: Is Picasso a 10x artist? The thing about the 10x claim is that it takes something complex and creative and applies a scalar multiplier to it. Talking about 10x programmers is _semantically_ problematic.

I am German (and drive a car) and as per my understanding this traffic light could simply be removed with the only change necessary being a stop sign instead of the Yield sign. The explanation given by the city (or its translation) don'

This also explains why dynamic languages can be easier to work with especially for less-than-expert programmers. You can start experimenting with the program at runtime while the program still is very incorrect. The type checker would requi

Hundreds of millions of people have lost their fortunes due to inflation. That's a social problem which would be solved by cryptocurrencies. I can also recommend this podcast on the topic of current real world applications of Bitcoin:

I agree that my claim is false. I kind of wrote that from the top of my head. In any case, the point that I wanted to make in the parent comment was that the JVM startup time itself was basically fine. I just checked on my Macbook and a Hel

I agree with many points in this article. That being said, there are dimensions of heaviness not captured in the article as far as I can see: 1. The startup times, not so much of the JVM itself, that just takes 1,5 secs, but the startup tim

"The Goal" by Eliyahu Goldratt, while set in a traditional manufacturing world, does a great job in clarifying the role of constraints in any team effort. It's written in the form of a novel. It is not perfect. I think it has

What I don't understand about this: Why didn't Google/Android use Java under the Open Source license under which it has been provided. Wouldn't that have saved all the trouble?

that's the way it is in developing countries. People have tremendous individual wealth but can't buy clean air, better transportation, electriicity or a rich cultural environment (e. g. public goods).

Money is not a con. It is a very valuable invention that makes exchange of goods way more efficient. Just because something unfairly advantages some people it doesn't follow that it's not useful. PS: Yes I heard the sarcasm in you

What scares me is their inability to fix things. Apple Music has been slow and unreliable as hell and with awful usability from the start. And it has not really improved at all. They likely see the problem but can't execute.

I sure hope they improve on Apple Music. The API responses are so amazingly slow, and large parts of using the app are really bad.
