I have never heard a tech person pronounce it "sexy" and I have never heard a marketing person /not/ pronounce it "sexy". Tech people who've had to suffer with terminator resistors call it "scuzzy" for a reason.

I wouldnt give that info myself either, but I don't think there's anything skeezy going on. I'll bet the recruiter wants that info to see if you pass a background check before handing you over to the hiring company.

This is a really well done but depressing visualization of the frequency and scope of Wikipedia vandalism.

I use waze daily for my commute and it's saved me tons of time. If FB buys it that's the last I'll use it. (and in response to the "why all the FB hate" comment: I don't hate FB. I used it rather a lot. However, I try to limit the amount of

I read this page about once or twice a year, when I have some time to go through it in it's entirety. It gives me a great reminder that nothing that may stress me out today is worth worrying about. I don't know if it's the inevitability tha

From Wikipedia: "SPDY (pronounced speedy) is an open networking protocol developed primarily at Google for transporting web content." Apple.com doesn't support it? Color me surprised.

This is the way MSFT does things, and I hated it. (Don't get me wrong, this isn't a blind MSFT bashing response, this is something that directly affected my career there. If you're there YMMV but this was clearly my experience in my BU.) Du

I came here to ride the fence. medium's articles are typically thoughtful and well-written, but generally are not topics that appeal to me very much when I'm looking for tech news or other more mainstream HN topics. I usually skip medium.co

Some games didn't use a timing loop, they were written with timing that corresponded directly to CPU speed. Thus a turbo mode would make the games impossibly fast to play. Sopwith and older versions of Scorched Earth come to mind as example

Enlighten the unenlightened here for a second... Why would you even want to explain higher-order dimensions to a 5 year old? I don't know all that many 5 year olds, in all honesty, but I don't know that I know ANY of them that I'd ever ne

An even shorter, and more glib, summary can be: "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." The more control you give one entity over anything at all related to your livelihood, the more likely that something going wrong (through malice, ignor

No downvote from me, but it depends on what moves you. Not everyone experiences the joy and satisfaction that comes from having children. Doesn't mean they're wrong, it just means their priorities differ from yours.

I was expecting "foo" and "bar", honestly. At least things like "data" you can argue the point that the variable contains data (and thus at least isn't a counter or contain state). Which is at least better than "foo". My favorite though is
