We have a lot of friends building genetic design software. Each have slightly different focuses. Ours is primarily, and I think uniquely, focused on an abstraction above the DNA itself (protein construct design). We focus on biological fu

Yes. We have a curated database of protein functions - so we have some idea of the function of new designs. Any designs submitted for manufacture are further screened - both the customer and the design - by both us and the DNA synthesizer.

Well, as CRISPR was originally found as a kind of immune system, there do exist a number of anti-anti-Cas9 systems against that evolved alongside it. There are a number of small inhibitors of Cas9 [1] (which themselves could be used to tune

For as much as Musk goes back to 'first principles', I am unclear how, from first principles, a metal electrode can healthily and sustainably interface with a living human cell. From first principles the size, material, sensitivi

Curiously the peptide is derived from a histone protein. Histones are the 'spools' around which genomic DNA is wrapped. Histones are found in the nucleus inside dragon cells. There probably should be no bacteria there even under

It's not a miracle cure, it's just a nicely different way of attacking a problem. It still has tradeoffs - I'm not versed on what they all are, but its tradeoffs are of a different kind than of small molecules. A few guesses

That is exactly what we aim to do: - We keep track of how domains have been used before (so as to mitigate if not entirely predict that QC). We are trying to encode that expertise in a way that is intuitive and frictionlessly sharable. T
