Ah. I see what you're saying. I thought you were proposing to replace paper with AR ("this desk is now a screen", etc) Trying to channel the researchers at Dynamicland, I think the answer would be that they aren't invest

The benefit of physical objects (like paper) is that you don't need to simulate reality in AR. Using physical objects lets you discover things that you wouldn't have otherwise with simulation. One of the neat things about the pape

Ah, fair point. The main difference is that the games I was playing were not explicitly designed for grey scale. If I had been playing on a GameBoy emulator, I wouldn't have even noticed!

Setting my phone to gray scale didn't "cure" me from my smartphone addiction. But it did help. In particular, games stopped being fun to play. I just finished up one week of only carrying an LTE Apple Watch as a smartphone re

Yeah. You need the iPhone. It's primarily used to configure the watch, I also suspect that the iPhone proxies some of the requests to the phone, though I'm not sure. I just leave mine plugged in at home.

I bought a Series 3 Apple Watch with LTE for this exact reason. I'm on day 5 of going phone-less and while it isn't a seamless transition, I expect to go without a phone for the foreseeable future. What works without a phone: - SM

Glad to hear it. I quit Facebook many months ago and I'm much happier as a result. I hope that you'll benefit from quitting as much as I have.

The same applies for Dynamicland. For example: I learned how to use the graphics system in Realtalk with a physical booklet that I could have taken home and studied. The booklet had the code printed out on it, as well as hand written annota

One of the ideas I heard people at Dynamicland mention is to have Realtalk project highlights over the dependencies (this would be possible because Realktalk is self hosting, all the code that runs Realtalk is printed on paper) In practice,

The "editor token" is also a program that Realtalk recognizes. It's just a small program that says "I am an editor named X" - you then point the token at the code you want to edit and then use a text editor to make

Right now, each piece of paper in Dymanicland is a program. You put a piece of paper down and it "runs" - the metaphor breaks down at this point though. With a little bit of code, anything in Dynamicland can become "alive&quo
