Ten years back remittance was 31% of the GDP [1] - a massive number. It might have declined, but the tiny state accounts for 20% of India's inward remittance while holding a mere 3% of the nation's population. Wikipedia says that

Yep. I lived there for the first two decades, and outside Kerala for the next two and a bit. The only thing Kerala exports is the workforce, since it's impossible to start anything in Kerala thanks to politics and high costs. I know be

I use them (more than one) as signals, and draw my own conclusions. I had subscribed to the NYT for several years, and my view is that much of their reporting is just a narrative that the journalist prefers. There's a certain amount of

This is a fantastic idea. It reminded me of the Dispo app (not sure if people use it anymore) where pictures you take show up only the next day morning. It might be alright to let people pick their preferred 3 hours, and maybe they can chan

I have made the same argument long before Trump was in the picture. Stop associating everything with Trump or propaganda - people can hold opinions which don't agree with yours.

I know it's a rant, but it makes no sense. The web is complex, but for 90% of the web I can still manipulate the DOM - even in apps which use frameworks like React. The ability to manipulate the DOM makes the internet so much more plea

Fully agree, if you prefer Ubuntu. Use defaults, switch LTS to LTS. This theme has many subtle issues as well - the top padding of "vince" in the third window, the width of types etc.

I can listen to a song while coding. I can't listen to a podcast while coding. A podcast demands way more attention than a song. 1.2 million people die in road accidents, and most of them are children and young people. Even more are s

Dave! Our sample sizes were large enough, and tables complex enough to opine on this. I suppose Gemini or Claude could fail with scans or handwritten pages. But that's a smaller (and different) set of use cases than just OCR. Most PDFs

Nice article, mirrors my experience. Last year (around when multimodal 3.5 Sonnet launched), I had run a sizeable number of PDFs through it. Accuracy was remarkably high (99%-ish), whereas GPT was just unusable for this purpose.

I feel compelled to reply. You've made a bunch of assumptions, and presented your success (likely with a limited set of table formats) as the one true way to parse PDFs. There's no such thing. In real world usage, many tables are
