I'm a tech generalist and this is so so right. If I could sum it up in a sentence it would be "be more helpful than everyone else". Be the person that (generally) says yes, not no. Stretch your boundaries a little, chip in an

I know I should learn it but, I dunno, I just really dislike the PowerShell syntax. I get what they were going for with the Verb-Noun thing but it just reminds me of AppleScript and I can’t stand it.

Neville Shute's novel 'On the Beach', from 1957. I won't spoil it -- Wikipedia has a synopsis if you want -- other than to say it's end-of-times dystopia. But from 1957. It's delightful. My friend Tim: > Jus

I just finished the audiobook, which is read by the author. Lovely. He also has a short series inside Sam Harris' (paid) 'Waking Up' meditation app which is how I got on to him (Oliver Burkeman).

We took advantage of this back in the mid 90s when we were 18-year-old backpackers from the UK. We got to Stockholm, looked at the train map, picked somewhere random, and headed off. When it got suitably rural, we got off. (My memory now is
