How is their current marketing and recognition? It might be worth it to start up an early marketing strategy and at least out-market them before you actually can launch. I don't know about the retailers, but some of them may be willing to

This was a problem I ran into. Originally my application did not require an email, but I ran into so many forgotten password cases that I eventually had to add one. And I felt it was my responsibility to help those users as most apps have

Thanks, I'm really glad you like it! The IME wasn't difficult because unlike most cases of Japanese input, there is no need to convert it to kanji, which saves sooo much extra work.

I've been slowly creating a site to help japanese students learn kanji reading and context at readthekanji.com. I'm quite happy with it as it gets much better with every release and I'm learning a lot as I go.
