Does "turn down volume" work when you're playing loud music or have the windows down driving on a windy/noisy road?

Maybe I'm not understanding this, but wouldn't network issues take priority naturally? For example, if there's a problem with a database connection, you'd return 500. How would you know if the resource even exists?

For me, it was that I thought that being a good programmer was that I write clean code with enough abstraction and indirection to make it future proof. Boy I was wrong. Unless you’re doing the same thing you’ve done for years, you can’t tel

Something tells me we're seeing more of this partly because of graphql and its first class spec to infinite scrolling. So no - I don't think the decision came from none other than the programmer who do this. And to be quite honest

I've always fancied japanese style pixel art. I still remember playing megaman x and it hasn't aged a bit. Or even simpler ones like super mario world or the last few pixel based pokemon games. I remember looking for tutorials for

This has been my experience as well. I’ve worked at several companies and this is far more common than I had hoped when I started my career. Also most people simply cannot write good documentation especially for complex topics.

I applaud the Firefox team to make it possible to customize the UI at such level and I hope that it spawns a lot of beautiful plugins. My biggest gripe is that the default UI doesn’t look like a typical default UI. It looks like a third par

That’s pretty neat, but it doesn’t justify their UX decisions. Why change something that seemed to work well? Do they have constant feedback on their previous design? I’m still confused why the tabs look like this. The active tab is so diff

This. It’s kind of like putting together your own PC vs buying a prebuilt. Not everyone is motivated enough to build it themselves if they have the means to buy a prebuilt. Having said that, an exercise bike was sort of my gateway to hobby

It could be that I got lucky. First time car purchase. My local dealership is actually a high volume dealership so they probably have the entire process as streamlined as possible. I was also surprised they willingly said yes when I asked f

I got a car during the pandemic and the only difference is that I had to talk to a salesperson for a few minutes. I actually prefer to talk to a person for big purchases. You’re exaggerating this “process”.

I’ve always been curious about this. If they sell it, could they just cash out everything and walk away and start a new project? It can’t be as simple as that right?

I’m curious what are some products that successfully do this? I honestly can’t think of any at the top of my head. To me, more features and ease of usability can’t coexist. There must be compromises. I’ve heard the argument that it’s possib

DRY seems to be one of those principles too many people take literally. Especially among junior devs from my observation (and experience). Just because there is a block of code that’s being used in two different places doesn’t mean it shoul

If you have to rely on restrictively typed languages to produce maintainable code, I think that’s a different topic. Typescript isn’t perfect by any means but it does a good job keeping code based easier to work with in a larger team. Much

Wow that number 3 hit me hard. I’ve always known myself to procrastinate, but I only think about 1 and 2. In retrospect, I have done 3 in a lot of cases. I just never really thought about it. In fact, I am extremely focused on working on th
