I hesitantly vote this up, not because I'm buying it, but because I love the topic, and would love to see HN talk about the concept of colonizing Mars. My understanding is that the biggest problem with terraforming it is the lack of magneti

He says "The arrow of time in our universe would therefore be inherited, through torsion, from the parent universe." I think that implies that any child universes, if they are parent->child and not a swirling cycle of interconnectivity

Yeah, but there could be a new parenthetical, "likelihood of an alien living in another universe, multiplied by all the effects of Fermi's Paradox itself, and multiplied by the likelihood of that alien's ability to traverse universes."

The easy thing to do is say "visit seomoz.org", particularly the blog. I'm thinking of one entry in particular, but I can't find it offhand, sorry. I'll come back and comment if I can find it.

I can't recommend Psychonauts enough. It's by Double Fine, who recently had the $1M Kickstarter campaign many of you will remember. Tim Schafer, founder of, and designer at, Double Fine, is celebrated at his craft, and Psychonauts is an exc

The Social Network was good about it. Someone online actually reedited the scene where he was grabbing images from frat sites and edited in scenes from other films, like Hacker's "virtual skyscrapers", and suddenly it was like a real Hollyw

Yes, that's what's at trial here. But in the post I replied to, I was taking issue with the insinuation that "OF COURSE that's what was happening here!" As if to imply online storage with easy download is inherently about piracy.

I'm down voting you because, to be fair, it was me that started it. In the post he replied to I compared it to guns, and file storage (not piracy) to killing. He was going with my analogy.

Yes, that's the allegation. However, the post I replied to seemed to be saying that "what's the big deal? This service can only be about piracy." I'm saying "no, we don't all agree that this service inherently exists to serve piracy. There

I get what you're saying, but if the tech is left untouched, any advancement gained in a few decades time will likely be less impressive than a few decades of commercial and niche amateur interest. No one is saying let's shut down factories

I don't know how to convey the opposite opinion in a way you've likely not heard before. I'll go to extremes. And a handgun is made to kill people. But we generally agree there's a limited context in which that is acceptable, so we allow it

But the complaint (and a legit one I feel) is that this page is the opposite. This page has very little information that techies want (as seen by all the complaining here.)
