Hah, I love the idea. Seems like a massively popular site using it would be ripe for abuse, but, I think it very clever.

This is about Samsung using Google's software and getting sued for it. How is that "teaching the East a lesson"? That's framing it as some cultural pudding match that makes no sense to most HN readers (or else he'd have a positive ranking.)

I understand, but I was curious if there was any leading site for such news? Not necessarily like HN or reddit, but, an industry blog that does a good job of keeping people informed.

Very interesting. If I were to want to read up on this type of info (advertising, new media versus old, etc.) with actual dollar examples, are there any sites in particular you'd recommend?

There's a startup for that. Saw it here on HN: http://www.bamboom.com

Huh. I'll have to run this by some other libertarian pals. Interesting.

If you do a GIS for "US manufacturing output" you'll see what the GP is talking about. Worker productivity has shot up over time, as has output. In return, far fewer workers are needed. I see this as a simple truth: We have arrived at a tim

Very neat; reminds me of http://swimbots.com , which focuses more on locomotion and the evolution of locomotion. But still, nice.

As I believe the zoom makes it more unique, "multi-user whiteboard offering unlimited zooming", or the likes. But you're absolutely right.

To be fair, a lot of complaints about any company/site/etc aren't just complaints, but instead preferences of something else. So sometimes it's not really a legit complaint, just fanboyism of something else, instead. That said, I also think

I get why the parent was downvoted; it's not relevant to the topic. That said, when you open a page and all you see is the header and the article title? I think it's perfectly valid to comment on the design, or lack thereof, of the page. Se

Fun article, probably not HN material, though. For instance, the "sleep denial" thing has been "creepypasta" repeated for a long time with different dressings... But your first link needs to be fixed!

Maybe I'm a bit out of touch, but, it seems to me that the role of "publisher" in today's world should have changed far more than it has. I would imagine it to very much include digital publishing as well. I always found it odd that online

Hell, not only did I face this growing up an early adopter to the Internet, I'm thirty and still have many interests that I share with no one in real life. I've chalked it up to "growing up". But hey, maybe it's a problem ripe to be solved.

Sure you would, to determine how far into the level you were. I wasn't talking about changing the level, just putting it in a first person view.

But as jsnell said below this: A lot of people might like the idea of living on Mars when there is absolutely no risk of that actually happening. While I think that we're still a good ways from pushing this planet to it's limit (at assumi

It would exist. If something exists, it's in front of you. If something exists, it's displayed on the screen with the single pixel you see in the game. I assume you'd differentiate with pixel color, like this game does.

Most of the points seem to be "Google doesn't know hardware". This is a valid point, but the article mostly reads like this one point repeated over and over. First, it discounts the fact that Google isn't inheriting a shell company; those f

I know this isn't exactly relevant, but I don't get to say this enough: someone needs to get cracking on this whole "tertaforming Mars and Venus" thing. Maybe that's where some of NASA's focus can be in the future as private enterprise pick

Did I come down with a case of the stupids? How are you 475X more likely to survive a plane crash than click a banner ad... But only 2X more likely to get a full house in poker than click a banner ad? Shouldn't that mean that airplanes are

I think this fellow is on to something. I can't imagine walking into a candy store and seeing bare counters and plain walls. I expected to see a white background with candy pouring in from the sides and reds and yellows.

The thing is, many deaf people prefer to type, not being confident with their speaking voices. Also, most hearing people don't have TDD/TTY machines. Just a note.

You may have no idea, but, how is speech-to-text these days? There are several companies who operate call centers for the deaf. A hearing person talks a live agent, who types a deaf person. If the software reached a decent quality, you cou

My biggest problem with passwords? That so many sites aren't up front with what's allowed in their passwords. Sites should tell you how long your password can be, and what characters you can use in it. I just know that since I started using
