WSJ, Economist, Forbes, none of these pull punches. You want a stark look at these kind of numbers and the issues around them, they all provide it with no hesitancy or softballing. Don't be surprised when someone talks about the money they'

Ahhh, sorry, I guess I didn't take "A beheading for those that have fouled." as literal. And somehow I didn't notice your last paragraph either... In my defense, I'm apparently stupid. ;)

I'm confused; which of those ills (which one could compare to the corruption that this is about) do you not think had a "moral campaign" (similar to what the grandparent suggests) fighting against it? I'm not saying it's the best framing of

I think this could work. Create an offline repository of logins, and agree to only access them after a hundred years (or proven notice of death). It would be opt-in of course. Maybe ran by Archive.org? Or as a for profit venture, promising

It was free before; glad to see it free again. I can't recommend this enough. The clever writing and gameplay go hand in hand. It's just beautiful.

While I do sometimes tap the wrong thing when checking HN on my phone and like your utilization of horizontal space, I think this is a bit much for a desktop design. It really does feel a bit soulless. HN's current design feels very true to

Amen. I mean, creating apps for your phone if you have unique ideas is one thing (and I think you'd want to sell that on the market to your competitor's phones too!) But if you can spend that r&d on making that phone survive a fall from

I mentioned this in another thread earlier today, but, I lost my job a couple of weeks ago. I'm not even sure where I'll be living in a month. But damn am I happy to not be there any more. I find it funny that it's a surprise most people do

A. Men. I recently lost my job, and am re-learning to program. I annoy myself with the skills I've forgotten, now knowing what I missed out on.

Which, to me, is an insane concern. Who wouldn't understand, in the rare instance of such abuse, "we trust our employees to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. This person misused our trust, etc."

Ahah, you poor soul. I guess the thrust of my argument is that... Employees are trusted with those resources while under employer supervision. ("Supervision"; not that their bosses are over their shoulders, or in some cases even know how to

I understood my employer's concerns. I hold no ill will for those answers. But I do think that, with the appropriate legwork, those suggestions can give rise to exactly what the OP is asking for. There's a good chance that the company has

I think you raise a good point about company lunches. It depends on if it's "grab some food on us and go eat at your desk," or "put out tables and sit beside people you don't know" kind of lunch.

I recently lost my job (unrelated to work performance) and I have to say, I was so damn happy. Like cletus mentioned, I was burned out, and just generally unhappy in life because of it. Now I'm happier, job hunting, and learning Java becaus

Maybe I'm crazy... But why are puerile still trying to catch up with Apple? Go off in a new direction. Integrate the PC into the home entertainment system like thirty promised all those years ago. Give me a tower I can hook up to a 1080p TV

If you enjoy this, or even the idea of game mash-ups I can't recommend Tuper Tario Tros enough! http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/522276 Like the afore linked Super Mario Crossover, I see this and wonder, "how did they NOT make this?"

You're right; it definitely depends on the user. That's why I think it's better to have them there and be able to turn them on/off, than it is to not have them. That's all. They're the bane of the OP's existence, yet I find them useful.
