Why should a conference be held somewhere where people will be excluded by virtue of their existence?

It's foolishness to believe that politics has no place in daily life when there are people who will make others' entire existences political. It's not a "gambit" if it's patently true.

It's not, Google's encoding targets bitrate, not quality. If you upload incompressible content, all you get is forcibly compressed artifacts. Makes no difference to them if it's random noise or a high-effort video essay.

To be, frankly, more fair than they deserve, with CUDA they don't have to worry about anyone else. It's their API, they just have to maintain it themselves. When supporting X or Wayland they have to play nice and integrate with ot

Unfortunately not. Darling [0] is still at the point that it can only run command line applications. Only the most basic GUI applications are supported. That's still a massive accomplishment that I don't want to diminish, but it&#

AI isn't going to let the little guy into mass media. It's just going to let the mass media cut out the costly human element.

As I said, I have not found any exceptions to the rule that PFAS are toxic. It's silly to say "hey, not all water is wet" when all the water seen to date has been. You've mentioned one member of the group so far and it&#

Weird take. Windows and macOS both let you do things Wayland doesn't currently have widely adopted protocols for. Only thing Xorg can do that any of the others can't is let a client application manage windows, and it's only m

Even if you render with whatever you please, software, OpenGL, Vulkan, you have to communicate with Xorg to slap it on the screen, and that'll result in tearing. On my Nvidia machine, the only escape from tearing is manually enabling t

AMD and Intel are competitive in gaming. Where Nvidia excels is other types of acceleration. AMD and Intel can't hold a candle to Nvidia when it comes the raytracing renderers used in every 3D and CGI workflow, for example.

And I simply disagree with the statement "PFAS can be used for both good and evil, don't blame the tool for its use." The tool is dangerous and needs to be used with care. And right now it's not being used with care, and
