So you’re telling me ordinary cops and prosecutors in Europe are capable of investigating highly technical, civil crimes? I’m not an expert in European justice, but based on a few high-profile cases I’ve followed, this doesn’t seem to be th

The purpose is so they can make rules about complex situations. It’s like how in the US the aviation authority (FAA) and crash investigator (NTSB) don’t really enforce the law, even if a criminal act contributed to the crash. They’ll either

I hear people saying laws that require police reports, police enforcement or interactions with the court are useless. For people like yourself who feel this way, what alternatives do you propose?

And how does he pay for the pizza? Cash? Check (do they even take checks these days?) Seriously, I can open the Toast (they started off making POS software) for my go-to pizza place. I can look to see if their special of the day looks worth

It’s managed through Git workflow. At one place we had three branches: master, alpha and release. Master was in-progress features. By the time alpha was cut you were expected to be code complete because that was also the end of the sprint.

I think this could happen at a small or large company. It sounds like instead of blindly choosing a company, you need to figure out how to pick teams and projects where you can grow. Some things to look for include senior engineers who are

Ok, so the reason I said bad is because this happens to me. I’m playing music on my laptop. I go to the bathroom. Maybe an auto-playing video with sound pops up on my iPhone. The headphones switch to my phone. Now I’m back at my laptop and

Some of these problems are because of Bluetooth (see complaints in this thread about Sony headphones — a company that many consider to have a similar product design ethos as Apple). Others are due to bad configuration defaults from Apple. F

A laundromat was just an example. There are plenty of urban places where the revenue is going to be fairly stable... Or maybe increase as housing overcrowding increases due to limited apartment construction. I've lived in neighborhoods

I don't know what you mean by significant problem. But the market is a bet on future global growth. If you can buy and hold (e.g. hold for 20-30 years in a retirement account) then I personally wouldn't worry. I'm still putti

Off the top of my head, charities might be closed, they might be banned from a given location (perhaps for stealing from the charity’s other clients) or perhaps they’re ignorant of the available resources.

You said they live in the “wealthy” part of the city. The point being, even in wealthy places like Manhattan in NYC or SoMa in SF there’s plenty of petty crime. In other words, crime is not exclusive to non-wealthy neighborhoods.

Crime is not the same as morality. A starving, homeless resident stealing a sandwich from the corner store might be theft. But I think most people wouldn’t say that that particular theft was immoral. Of course the people stealing from the r

For N-95s yes. For other types of masks that are easier to counterfeit, no. Same goes for electronics. I’m leery of USB-C cables, but I’m fine buying a high-end DSLR lens for the same reason.
