They are illustrated just for Google Now. Can't seem to find it now, but it a "making of" video (I think from verge) they showed a few different iterations of the top graphic and how they ended up with the current version.

It's pretty much the only thing left they didn't already require, so no big surprise here. Perhaps it's time to switch to only using the web version on my phone...

I think children are a significant use case. Think of a parent handing off a Kindle Fire to their kid with a set balance of coins. They can buy apps and make in app purchases on their own, without having to worry about the kid going hog wil

As someone who grew up around farms, this is joke. No, that is not a good comparison by any measure. These videos are depicting cruelty, plain and simple. If that cruelty has become standard operating procedure it does not suddenly become O

I used to worry about having all the right tools: different pens/pencils, grid notebooks, rulers, stencils, etc when sketching UI's. Now I really just use one nice mechanical pencil and regular white printer paper. My focus is really just g

I don't think that is the case at all. I think the goal of flat UI is that the very existence of an element implies that it is interactive. I do agree that there is a problem in that most of us are conditioned to look for gradients, shadows

First off, awesome. I've always wanted something like this ( especially for pg's essays) and kicked around ideas for how to build something like it. A few bits of feedback, mostly on the design/interaction side: I don't think only offering

I want to know how permissions will be handled on Facebook Home when preinstalled. Going through the play store, you will more or less see what you are agreeing to (likely, a huge list of everything possible). But preinstalled?

That's a really interesting point. I wonder where the permissions are covered in the preinstalled case. Some fine print somewhere I'm sure.

I do think replacing the launcher was a smart idea, but I'm just not sure if that kind of integration is useful in FB's case. Maybe I'm a minority, but I just don't route my life through FB and do not want to, at all. This only seems useful

Why? He's taken almost every chance he's had to either bash responsive as bad for UX or completely misrepresent what responsive actually is (see here: http://www.netmagazine.com/interviews/nielsen-responds-mobil... )

This is insulting to UX designers. It's the equivalent of saying to a dev "development is easy, just keep it simple and use common sense". Absurd.

Just check out the css, everything starts with the 480 media query and builds on top of that. CSS is added to the base mobile CSS (which is incredibly simple) to work as the width goes up. Check v2, it's (almost) completely the other way ar

Not sure what you mean by this. Mobile first just means everything is designed starting from a mobile view. It's not a "feature" like some sort UI item, it's a style of design thinking with the goal of ensuring the mobile context is absolut
