+1 on this, I'm having a very pleasant time working on a couple Electron+React apps right now. I've been starting my apps based off https://github.com/chentsulin/electron-react-boilerplate but diverging great

Yes the windows link above is for Universal Windows Platform apps which isn't what most people think of when they think "windows app". For React Native on desktop I've been bundling my React app into a Electron shell, wo

This looks like it could be cool. I'm mostly a plaintext editor kind of programmer but a IDE that helps me get my job done better would obviously be the better solution. There's... a lot happening here though. What does: > Comm

I really enjoyed the various random thoughts in the wrapping up section of this post, thank you a good read!

The last two paragraphs of the article touch exactly on this. They talk about another person who had a similar incident where his first attempt was rejected but the follow-up wasn't, and he explicitly mentions why _that_ is his problem

100% this. Coming from someone whose made disgusting chained commands to parse access logs for relevant information, you _need_ better documentation than you can do with a single line of commands. I have so many `zgrep ... | awk ... | sort`

Great overview, the Hough transform has a soft place in my heart so I love anyone mentioning it and actually using it. I wonder if anyone from Dropbox could go into more detail about the technical aspects? This sounds like the perfect thing

I'm not a 100% sure but when I've used similar tools like this before the cached data coming from the web is the _content_ of the page, where the checked out repo I'm in is dealing with the _layout_ of the page. Do you really

This is insanely cool. No matter how useful/easy your web GUI is, if you have the skill set it's always easier to just do it by hand. Huge congrats to Squarespace, I've already linked this to friends I know that use them and

I was looking at Magic Leap's jobs a lot in the last week, do you mind giving more information about the teams / locations they're in? I don't have a degree and seeing a list of open jobs that are just names of degrees (

This was my immediate first thought too. A lot of subway stations got WiFi in NYC and for the one directly underneath my office I always had to load Google first to get the login portal to load. Any other websites I visit (including this on

Yeah, definitely agreed. I just wanted to point out the person's "I opened the door to Amazon as a new dev" isn't purely limited to new devs perspectives.

I have just under ten years of experience and lead teams of developers, Amazon routinely spams me asking me to do 120 min online coding tasks before even a phone screen too. It's just fucking disrespectful of my time, to be honest.

I also work at Stack Overflow. I don't think anyone can be _the_ very best and I think that's not a reasonable or attainable goal. We value T shaped developers, and our salary matrix values both spreading breadth (e.g. as a mobile

I'm a developer at Stack Overflow, my salary is $2,000 a year more than what the calculator spits out with Developer / 5 years experience / 3 skill (I was a 2.7 last compensation review, I believe)

At Stack Overflow we use a homebuilt Go solution called bosun: http://bosun.org/ -- it runs on pretty much anything and lets us incorporate data from windows machines / linux machines in one place.
