what happened was not luck, Putin's force must have targeted this administrative building on purpose. The goal is to scare the opponents and the world at large, and to show determination. IMHO it's not incompetence, it is a strate

having 4 computers running software (the same or different software, it doesn't really matter) is known to not give you fault tolerance. See http://sunnyday.mit.edu/papers/nver-tse.pdf

It's funny how people recommend Master and Margarita, I found it unbearably difficult to read. The constant jumps between story lines (if I recall correctly) threw me off. Would absolutely avoid, but YMMV.

Thank you sir for this wonderful book (and then thanks Brother Guy for making you write it that way), it is a very memorable read. The description of your original plan for the book sounds great too (just as interesting to me), and I would

overengineering can be fixed as well, usually by undoing things and doing them over again in the underengineered style. I would grant you that overengineering is typically more work and harder work to fix, though.

this is very well put, indeed both parties are set up to fail: - the interviewer has an incentive to fail the candidate, whereas the interest of the employer is to actually hire someone eventually.. - the interviewee is rated on something

"Paying people living in one place more than people living in another place for the same work" <-- is this not what companies all do, they use COLA adjustment to pay 2 different wages in 2 different places. Note also that take-

Without trying to be mean, I find it ironic that you suggest using spell checking, yet spell the word "sentence" as "sentance" (as easy enough mistake for a non-native speaker). Sorry I don't mean to pick on you, I

the fire metaphor still works: we have arsonists (that build up tech debt or just bad practices) that turn firefighters (by fixing in emergency mode). Of course not all tech debt is bad, the trick is know when to use it to good effect, not

3x sounds about right for France, but that's an outlier. The multiplicative factor in the US is more like 1.25x AFAIK.
