When the nonsense is done at limo stands and private jets, you will see a change. No politician is deaf to the voices of "the people", but it's a lot easier to get into speaking range when you can afford a professional lobby.

I just finished reading the original Dune two weeks ago, so allow me to digress for a moment... How is it possible that someone could have rooted for any character /other/ than Paul in the original Dune novel? The Harkonnens were portrayed

Wow, that thread is, in of itself, a fascinating time capsule. http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=99/06/04/1347253 "How long before the google engine only becomes accessible through some overburdened overbranded 'portal' site?" This made

I can't believe I'm defending Group on but.. the normal price for that set is 1000 yen. Furthermore, it's for the lunch menu (ランチバイキング) and the time restriction is such that I doubt they'll ever have to honour all of the coupons. (Further

For what it's worth, I meant to say: "For what it's worth, the government is trying to phase out the more abusive workplace situations that are noted in the article." I have no idea how that got auto-corrected into "fruit". (For those curio

Looks like it is quite easy to shut off ads on Gawker. They do a simple boolean check to see if you have a "noad" cookie set. Try entering this into the console. javascript:document.cookie='noad=true; expires=Thu, 2 Aug 2021 20:47:11

"Practical"? Is that a good thing now? I don't recall "practical" being synonymous with "awesome" or "excellent". "Practical" is an excellent excuse for not having principle. I have some issues with RMS' beliefs, but I applaud the fact th

It seems to be a bit disingenuous to contend that a small amount of research before making a 1400-1500$ investment is too much to think about. I had a problem with sound with Ubuntu 7.10 on my laptop (It came with Vista which was slowing it

For what it's worth, I used variable variables when making a DB class for a project I was working on last year. It isn't something you can easily debug and it is complicated. That said, it isn't the gates to hell that it is represented as.
