Do you do the same thing when you are having a conversation with a non-native speaker of english? The mute button would serve you pretty well in this case as the narrative isn't important. You also missed the hilarious conclusion at the end

I really think you are in the woods on this one. I think the comparison is particularly weak to the point that there isn't any comparison or that the comparison is so broad it could be applied to anyone and therefore isn't particularly app

What an epic stretch. Altair had a business model, they sold something of value for money. Microsoft sold something for money. Neither twitter nor vidly sell anything for money and both will be struggling with monetization schemes for so

When you write desktop apps, you have to do the same thing - usually (lazy loading). I'm not defending flash, I'm just saying. When I used to do Win32 programming, I'd usually cache a bitmap and scroll that. For larger stuff though, lazy

I'm having the same problem with the trackpad on my MBP in Windows 7. It's a serious drag. The drivers work, for the most part, but obviously not as well as in OSX. Have resorted to a USB mouse (another PITA, but I'm getting stuff done).

That was actually a serious question. For anyone that sits for 17 hours a day, you would understand the importance of the ability for your ass to breath. I switched from an Aeron to Steelcase and it was a huge mistake, for the simple fact t

Why would your eyebrow raise a bit when you hear a developer say they use any particular OS? What do you gain by having such rigors? Why do you assume your opinion is absolute? (Which is must be for you to cock an eyebrow in what I'm assu

10-4 thanks. Leaves me wondering why database neutrality is so important that you miss a lot of optimal features of a specific database for it. I can't think of one time in the last 15 years where I've moved a database from one particular

Can anyone clue me in on how this is helpful (not slagging, just generally curious). Like I don't see how this: create_view :active_patients do |view| view.select 'p.patient_id as id' ,'p.id as visit_id' view.from 'patients a

Yeah, but guess what? More than your single application typically hits your database, so now you have to make sure any and all applications do that runtime input verification and do it correctly. At Massify, we have 5 different application

Cat for sure. Kittens need a lot of attention though, as do strays you've adopted. But they are the lowest maintenance of any pets. Dogs are great but are like having developmentally disabled children; they require a lot of attention, pati

I'm not certain why I'm being knocked down other than calling out a Y-Combinator guy for being wrong. He equates desktops to VHS and the web as DVD, the only problem is there is a clear superiority of DVD over VHS (greater resolution, more

It might be amazing, but I had to turn it off when he said the web was better than the desktop, which is patently not true. The desktop still gives a vastly superior user experience, while the web is still trying to ape it.
