This sounds like a awesome idea and a great project, and I work with subscription billing. Attempted to try it out for a while, and my first impression is that the UI is terribly ugly, even as I literally could find only 3 buttons to click

What I mean by latency is the transport latency, even assuming 0ms OPTIONS compute time, you still need twice the round trip time.

Virtual threads are NICE, but not truly critical for most Java devs. What I am really happy with are the pattern matching implementation. Coupled with exhaustive switch-case, its a whole new world for Java devs. And its great that the desig

Nice. This explains why the stacktraces are kinda useless unless you take special care with kotlin coroutines.

Many of them bundle with heavy graphing libraries and OCR libraries for reading receipts or credit cards and what not, so they already start off pretty heavy. Then they are often cross platform, making them even bigger. Then add every track

We mainly use go and java, with different dbs and way too many http clients. But the instrumentation is even just a small part of it, we actually had most services fully instrumented with OpenTracing, but then they decided to abandon OpenTr

CORS is something I 'fixed' once, five years ago. Hard to talk in detail about that anymore. I wish we would have the time to implement it safely, but alas. We still can't produce an allowList of allowed domains :/

I have not used Zap, but I really like the Zerolog API which I have used extensively. I dont have any religious fight with Zap vs Zerolog, I just happened to use Zerolog first.

Lol, I had an N900 and it was clunky at best. It was ok as a tech preview, but it wasnt a fantastic product by any means.

We run Kafka with kubernetes, but its so locked down/customized we might as well run it on bare metal. We started out on rook network storage, but after multiple fs corruption incidents, we now run every broker with local storage. Kube

Yeah, its not great, but I dont think its unreasonable. Id expect it more in 25-30k range, 7k sounds like fairy tale. Lets say you have two designers working 40 hours on this over 3 months, thats quickly 20k just there, before any implement

Am I out of touch? I think about 30-40k does not sound unreasonable for something like this. You have a redesign, with UX people improving your shopping and cart page + implementation + updating your maze of weird bootstrap theme to the new
